Kratos Defense and Security Solutions – San Diego (corp. hdqtrs.) June 2008 – November 2011

Chief Information Officer

Managed eleven direct-reports and a global workforce of forty employees. Kratos grew from a 300 mln dollar company to one billion in revenues with roughly 4,200 employees in over fifty offices via an aggressive acquisition strategy. This in turn led to significant IT integration activities at a non-stop pace.

• Developed a single help desk framework to provide a common help desk experience across the company.

• Designed and implemented a cyber-security program including vulnerability assessment/management, an Intrusion Prevention System (IPS) and engagement of ethical hackers.

• Performed due diligence at eight companies in a 42 month time period. Responsible for the efficient and prompt integration of all IT resources, including infrastructure, reporting, application platforms, information compliance and help desk, ensuring the safety and security of information accessibility.

• Managed web-developers and Cognos report-writers as well as information compliance. Led various software initiatives in the company, including document and content management, Cognos report-ticket workflow, intranet deployment, and ERP upgrades. Developed, implemented, and maintained corporate Intranet. Expertise on the MS Sharepoint platform.

• As head of corporate facilities, managed the move to a new 35,000 SF corporate headquarters. Ensured a seamless transition by melding strategic initiatives in facilities and IT to produce an outcome with virtually zero downtime. Lease and contract negotiations. Project-managed space build-out in new facility – came in on-time and on-budget.

• For the past three consecutive years, no IT deficiencies were found by external auditors.

SYS Technologies – San Diego September 2004 – May 2008

Vice President, IT

SYS was a rapid-growth environment via acquisition. Challenges included maintaining the appropriate audit and compliance posture in a small-company atmosphere. Managed a national workforce. Was acquired by Kratos – I replaced the incumbent CIO.

• Provided strategic management for a growing government defense contractor specializing in technology and engineering expertise for the United States military. SYS employed 600 employees in nine offices throughout the country.

• Senior leader in designing and implementing a company infrastructure capable of supporting scale and rapid growth. SYS had acquired eight companies in 24 months and grown from 10 mln in revenues to over 80 mln.

• Utilized industry best-practices to ensure Sarbanes-Oxley compliance. Developed and implemented standards within the company to ensure process compliance. Author of Sarbanes-Oxley control documents and narratives.

• Implemented strategy to support 200 full-time mobile/remote users via VPN and Smartphones.

• Provided problem resolution for key financial applications. Senior leader in planning for adoption of new enterprise resource planning (ERP) platform via defining requirements and documenting internal processes.

Widcomm, Inc. – San Diego May 2001 – August 2004

Managed a global workforce for a software development company. Acquired by Broadcom – I was retained by Broadcom to see the acquisition through to the end. High level of knowledge in supporting engineering and software development environments.

• Demonstrated expertise in managing multi-national IT organization with reduced capital budget.

• Designed, implemented, and project managed complex E-mail upgrade in a multi-site, multi-server organization. Node-clustering expertise.

Adesso HTS – San Jose, CA February 2000 – May 2001

Director, IT Infrastructure

Recruited by Adesso to build a state-of-the-art application infrastructure. Adesso provided an Oracle-based software application (payment engine) to healthcare companies. Pure-play software development company funded by Sequoia Capital.

• Managed LAN/WAN services staff, budget and strategic architecture.

• Managed multi-site network consisting of NT servers, Oracle Database servers, MS Exchange, MS SQL, MS IIS, Cognos, Mitel PBX and Octel Voicemail, Scout ACD system, and Cisco switches and routers.

• Developed strategy to migrate Adesso’s multi-site, multi-domain NT 4.0 environment to W2K using domain consolidation and streamlined organizational unit design.

• Designed and managed corporate data center.

• Designed and implemented site-to-site and remote client VPNs using Cisco hardware and software.

• Implemented corporate hardware standards for servers (Compaq Proliant), PCs (HP Vectra), and network devices (Cisco).

• Developed a standard set of hardware, software and service solutions for corporate customers that focused on Citrix Metaframe server-based computing, large-scale Cisco router implementations, WAN connectivity and Compaq server deployments (Sigma is a value-added computer reseller).

• Increased service revenue by training sales force to sell service solutions and support contracts.

• Developed analysis tool to measure service revenue and engineer utilization. Tracked departmental efficiency monthly. Instituted incentive plan for engineers to increase departmental efficiency.
