PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE
PSM/RMP Consulting - August 2011 to present
Auditing small facilities’ PSM/RMP compliance programs to ensure that gaps are identified.
Provide expertise to support facility employees and management in their understanding of the 14
elements of Process Safety Management and Risk Management Program.
Conduct PHA's for each facility.
Deliver detailed analysis on incidence and provide recommendations to ensure that these incidence are
not repeated.
Maintain knowledge of change in regulatory bodies and provide a source of information for my clients.
Represent the company during state or federal audits.
Georgia-Pacific Corporation – Monticello, MS
Process Engineer/PSM Coordinator – June 2008 to August 2011
Track manufacturing performance to identify and eliminate production performance
issues (efficiency, off-spec, and waste/yields) and coordinate with Production & Maintenance in order
to continually maximize production capacity and capability.
Apply trouble shooting/problem solving techniques as required to quickly respond to many varieties of
operational issues that may occur.
Develop plant trials to optimize selection and the use of production chemicals whilst ensuring product
specifications are met.
Responsible for monitoring and analyzing operating data to provide technical and quality engineering
support for operations. Also responsible for determining root cause and corrective action
with process upsets.
Assisted with plant shutdown & start-up such as conducting lockout audits to ensure procedures are
accurate.
Responsible for an OSHA compliant Process Safety Management (PSM) program for entire plant as
well as leading a culture change for Process Safety.
Implemented various energy saving projects such as heat recovery and demand forecasting. Analyzed
difference in energy usage per operating shift and energy use of equipment to asses impact and
create procedures to minimize gap. Savings estimated to be ~$2 Mil.
Installed a Near-Infrared (NIR) Spectrometer for online control of the causticizing area saving the mill
approximately $200K.
Modified Methanol condenser to include additional control loop to prevent temperature spikes resulting
in NCG emissions.
Coordinated the implementation of PSM covered Mechanical Integrity programs. Worked with
engineering and maintenance to develop SMP's and equipment inspection programs. Developed
detailed PM routes for operations in order to enhance mechanical integrity throughout the plant.
Created and updated operating procedures for more efficient operations. Worked with operators to
implement procedures.
Developed process models using statistical data analysis. Train production personnel on application
and interpretation of SPC charting.
Technical representation at daily reliability meetings.
Provide technical direction for coop students with current project work.
Involved in conducting design reviews, creating contingency plans and performing feasibility studies.
This involves directly interacting with the Project Engineering Manager, Maintenance Manager and
Production Manager from inception to completion and start-up of the process.
Department of Environmental Quality – Jackson, Mississippi
Environmental Engineer – February 2003 to June 2008
Responsible for implementation of Title V regulations related to air quality including MACT standards.
Assist affected facilities in complying with Title V regulations.
Made recommendations to facilities in the reduction of air emissions and recommended such
equipment to accomplish a reduction.
Perform permitting & compliance activities for facilities regulated under the Acid Rain Program.
Review RMP/PSM plans submitted by facilities & perform inspections of regulated facilities.
Review & provide comments on air/environmental impacts of submitted projects.
Responsible for sampling and preparing periodic reports for air quality.
Techtrix - Gadsden, Alabama
Process Engineer – August 2002 to February 2003
Responsible for troubleshooting and maintaining production lines and assist with all quality
issues.
Maintained accurate environmental records.
Responsible for optimizing production lines. Performed a study of each step in the process to estimate
required chemical usage which allowed operators to determine exact amount to use.
Implementation of new projects for process improvement and plant profitability.
Supervised laboratory and technicians.
