Accomplishments
Redesigned the Plant Lay Out. Replax needed to be more efficient to improve their productivity, which I did by relocating the equipment to improve the materials logistic and eliminating bottlenecks to reduce production time, which improved delivery of finished products. Achieved a 15% increase in production and a reduction of scrap from 25% to 8%.
Increase market share and profits. Sicsa/Sitimex needed to internationalize its market, as Sales Manager, I implemented a plan to include the United States and Central America, which increased sales by 15% the first year and a 8% in profits.
Computerize Inventory Control. For Sicsa/Sitimex designed the products codes and FIFO controls, in able to renew inventory and reduce the cost which increased rotation from twice a year to 4.5 times a year.
Rebuilt Purchasing Department, Interceramic was growing, and needed a complete make- over for that area, which I did working with TI to design a program that controlled all purchases, the logistics, warehousing and provide the customers with real time information on their requirements, which help to reduce cost, implemented JIT, even thou the company triplicated its production capacity, the size of the warehouse went down from 6 to 4 million dollars.
Starting the Product Engineering and Quality Assurance Liaison. Nemak required an office in Windsor, Ontario and Detroit MI, to be on-site at the client’s facilities and to be able to negotiate with them and the Unions, which I was more than capable of doing, by opening the doors to have a Design and Technical office in Detroit.
Career History
Plant Manager. Replax / Plasticorp, L.L.C., from March 2000 to May 2012. Plant Manager assumed full responsibility for all plant operations, and grew from a small business to a manufacturing facility with 100 employees. Plastics extrusion (Blown film) with a 400 MT per month
Sales Manager. Sicsa Sitimex Group, from January 1994 to March 2000. Increased sales from 1.2 million a year to 8.5 million dollars, inventory rotation increased to 4.5 times a year, development of the market in the USA and Central America, which represented 25% of actual sales.
Purchasing Manager. Interceramic Group, from May 1986 to December 1993. The modernization of the warehouses and implementing a computerized system to control inventories, purchasing programs, traffic and logistics, developed new supply sources for raw materials, introducing the MRP for raw materials supply.
Quality Manager. Nemak, from Sept, 1984 to April 1986. Design and developed the Lay-Out laboratory and Support Department at Customers facilities.
Product Engineering Manager. Nemak in Canada and the USA, from Oct 1976 to August 1986. Developed On-site support system with customers to coordinate “Just in Time” deliveries, solutions to quality issues, the development of new products (new models), the negotiations of new contracts and price modifications.
