Selected Accomplishments

Consolidated HR teams of merging organizations. Recruited to provide strategic HR leadership for merging companies that became MRC. Developed common systems, structure, benefits and policies. Built comp structure for entire company, completed payroll integration and led 401K conversion. Cut eight positions and saved $800K.

Reduced training costs and improved results. Cargill suffered from high-cost training and minimal measurable impact. Created interactive computer learning centers for technical and non-technical training. Reduced program costs $400K, increasing job knowledge, performance and retention while improving employee satisfaction.

Decertified three unions, improving production environment. Employee morale negatively affected Cargill results and culture. Built trust and developed strong employee relationships while decertifying unions, (USWA), in three locations. Improved work performance, morale and retention. Reduced operating cost 15% first year.

Hired global team for construction project. Century Aluminum targeted building $1.8B smelter in Iceland. Recruited world-class bilingual construction team to live in Iceland for two years. Created construction expat program, including housing, compensation, policies and procedures. Executed employment agreements.

CAREER HISTORY

SVP of Human Resources, MRC, 2008 to 2009. Recruited to lead HR operations for two large, newly merged companies. Created and executed policies and procedures, lean processes, and programs supporting ROI and shareholder objectives. Managed 32 employees and $5.5M budget.

Corporate Director of Human Resources, Century Aluminum, 2001 to 2008. Selected to build HR organization for newly formed company. Oversaw developing and implementing HR strategies, policies, procedures, and programs, supporting plant locations plus domestic and global JV assets. Managed staff of 30 and $5M budget.

VP of Human Resources, Cargill Steel, 1997 to 2001. Promoted in 1997 to direct HR functions and strategic initiatives for newly formed company supporting four domestic and international business units with 4000 employees Managed $7M budget and led 50 staff members.

Director of Human Resources, Cargill Steel 1991 to 1997. Selected to strengthen the HR function for 700 employees at seven union free and three unionized facilities. Successfully brought ten plants under one HR platform. Earlier provided HR leadership during plant turnaround for two locations in strong union environment. Managed five employees and $1.5M.

Human Resources Manager, Cargill Steel, 1988 to 1991. Installed Cargill HR systems for new acquisitions. Negotiated labor agreements and created strong and efficient HR organization.
