DETECTIVE

Investigate major crimes while enforcing federal, state and municipal laws, codes and ordinances. Provide technical assistance with homicides, sudden deaths, sexual assaults, robberies, burglaries, narcotics, fraud, and other offenses. Analyze crime scenes to gather physical evidence. Identify and take statements from witnesses, victims, and suspects. Assist in case preparation for court; prepare case summaries and inform prosecuting authorities of the body of evidence available. Arrange technical assistance from specialists in the areas of identification, ballistics, laboratory analysis, and toxicology.

 Played a key role in the arrest of a suspect implicated in a 1999 cold case homicide.

Law Enforcement/Operations - Developed the division’s short and long-term strategic plans with emphasis on standard organizational and operational procedures and practices. Provided command and control, staff planning, administration, logistical services and custody for the operation of a prison facility. Acted as liaison with local, state, and federal law enforcement agencies, along with fire/rescue agencies and the community. Conducted and reviewed criminal and in-house investigations. Human Resources/Administration - Conducted IAD internal employee investigations regarding complaints of abuse and misconduct. Created daily watch schedules and managed payroll records.
