My name is Robert Lee and this is my statement of faith,
Born and raised in San Diego CA, I am the fifth of five siblings. I have only one sister and three
brothers. We were raised in a non-practicing catholic family and would not hear of the Gospel
until later as a teenager; my sister Maria was the first to convert to Christianity and Brother Paul
shortly after. After about two years I would attend an event one Friday night that would change
my life forever. A ministry called Calvary Chapel had a minister named Mike McIntosh he would
be teaching on the Christian faith that evening to which seemed to be speaking directly at me. I
would dedicate my life that evening to Jesus and his plan for my life. This was a wonderful
experience that still encourages me to this day. The changes were dramatic at first as I would
see life from a totally different perspective. Peace and joy that had once alluded me was at
every corner in my days ahead. I looked at people differently now and this would trigger a desire
for more of God and a love for people and youth. This would line up my life in which I would
pursue his Word and any ministry that could fan this hunger.
I became a Christian at the age of twenty, and went directly to school for an education in the
Bible. This has been met with working various ministries such as ushering and the ministry of
helps. At this time I would work full time to pay for college and for rent etc. this was just the
beginning of many jobs and ministries that would serve as a platform for the learning and
disciplines necessary for my future in his will and plan.
My days today are spent first with an acknowledgement of my need for his Grace to meet the
demands of today, Reading of the Scripture and devotionals are a daily exercise and I read
about two books a month. I like to be available to His Peacefull interruptions during the day or
night and it is not unusual that I will pause 2-3 times a day to thank him or to pray for someone.
My wife and I currently minister both at Skyline Church in La Mesa CA and we also attend
Foothills Christian Fellowship in EI Cajon CA.
My journeys thus far with the highlights of children and youth ministry as well, as working with
churches and pastors, I believe could benefit IJM and its vision for the lives of others. The
resume is just some of the talents I may have, but a love for God and people will always be
displayed and in honor of HIM.
Sincerely, Robert Lee
Hello and thank you for this opportunity to apply to International Justice Mission. My Name is
Robert Lee and I reside in San Diego, California. Along with my Family which includes a
wonderful wife of 18 years come April 30th of this year. We have two great teenagers Abigail
and Benjamin of who is our delight, a dog named Maggie, a cat named Bella and one toad
named Fergi. This family is a project in the making and we try to honor God in all we do.
I learned about IJM over past year and was immediately touched by the ministry you provide
and with research found something very unique to the cause that interests me more and more.
Working with people and teenagers has been a passion of mine for over twenty five years from
working with children with addictions to college age students who just want to find their passion.
And yet the range in ministries that have found me at their doorstep is pretty broad in scope.
Right now I am enrolled for a MA counseling degree that will help in the future as well as now.
My wife and I also lead a marriage ministry for struggling marriages and I lead in the pastoral
care part in this ministry. Also being a youth pastor in the pastor in the past has given me an up-
close visual of what the youth face in the generation. Ministering to youth is still my favorite and
the ability to reach more has always been a dream of mine.
I have also worked with David Youngren’s ministry called “Save Africa Now” which I was the
associate of National and International ministries. My duties included, but not limited to,
identifying, and cultivating relations with pastors and churches around the world for the purpose
of organizing crusades conferences meetings and fundraising events for the ministry. I also
organized by calling and speaking at churches to present the vision of the ministry. Recruiting
volunteers is part of this ministry and has been a part of all the ministries. I have been involved
with. Encouraging people to a vision can be a difficult task yet without a vision we perish. I
believe and have seen that when they can see clearly they will support.
The opportunity to write this has been fun and I thank IJM for the encouragement they have
brought to my life by their action and fight for those who can’t and I am humbled at the
possibility to be considered.
Sincerely, Robert Lee
