- In charge of general patient care
- Performs dialysis equipments/machine preparations (priming bloodlines)
- Takes and computes pre and post weight of the patients
- Takes and assess patient’s vital signs before, during and after the dialysis treatment
- Checks the patient’s access (AVF, IJ or Perm. Catheters) for patency
- Cannulates patient’s AVF aseptically
- Initiates hemodialysis treatment to patients with AVF and IJ catheters
- Do Termination procedure of dialysis treatment aseptically
- Provides nursing intervention to patients experiencing dialysis complications
- Provides health teaching and educates patients regarding their diet, fluid restrictions and care for
their access
- Administers erythropoietin SQ post dialysis treatment
- Performs basic trouble shooting on machines and on patient’s access problem
- Accounting for medical use
- Able to remove IJ catheter as per doctor’s order and patient’s consent
- Provides the need of the Unit
- Assist the Staff for any access problems on the patient
- Coordinates patient's conditon and progresses of
the patient to the attending physician
- Updates and follow up the needs of the patient
- Updates monthly lab. results and relay it to the attending Physician/ Nephrologist
- Teaches the Dialysis Nurse Trainee on dialysis protocols
and procedures
- Attends to monthly meeting with the Chief Nurse and with
the Administrators of the hospital
- Disinfects dialysis machines, sterilizes dialyzers
-Maintains medical supplies inventory
- Handles patients (OPD/ INPATIENT)
- Carry out doctor’s order
- Acts as the leader of the Unit
- entertains new/regular outpatients, sales representatives, suppliers, telephone calls
