Duties: Prepared Monthly Financial Statements using Generally Accepted Accounting Principles. Created “from scratch” a Balance Sheet in the Company’s Accounting software,
QuickBooks. Set-up General Ledger Interface between ADP (Payroll software) and QuickBooks. Prepared annual reports to the State of TN for each product line. Prepared personal property tax returns for 22 store locations. Singularly, worked on the Company’s first Sales Tax Audit by the State of TN, covering 4 years. Reduced the tax liability to the State, from approximately $300K to $18K.

04/06 thru 01/07 – Administrative Officer: Developed spreadsheets for the following items where none had existed before: Center Number Listing of 250 Clinical Trial Studies, cumulative income and expenses for more than 15 Principal Investigators, monthly financial reports comparing Actual to Budgeted expenses for the Operating Centers. Review Budgets and Contracts for accuracy. Vouch source documents to the Ledgers for both the Operating Centers and the Clinical Trial Study Centers. Research and clear all Deficits. Prepare journal entries, transmittal forms, center number requests, 1275’s, P.O’s, check requests, etc.
10/05 thru 04/06 – Grants Manager (Pediatrics): Working with Federal Grants and Contracts, Non-Federal Contracts, Foundations and Gifts. Process includes submitting grants, setting-up center numbers and budgets. Monitor spending for all restricted centers on a monthly basis. Work with Finance to finalize FSR’s for submission to NIH and other regulatory agencies. Approve journal entries, monitor and minimize deficits and cost-share variances.
08/03 thru 10/05 – Accountant (Finance / Pediatrics): Work with Departments to prepare FSR’s for federal grants. Approve journal entries, monitor and minimize deficits and cost-share variances.
11/02 thru 08/03 -- Staff Accountant (Finance): In charge of disseminating Cash Deposits. Made two major improvements to the system. First, worked with Treasurer to have Lockbox Deposits overnighted daily rather than just last 3 days of month, with no additional cost. Second, worked with programmer to enhance access database to utilize queries, replacing manual research.
