Senior Consultant/Solutions Engineer – Assisted in the development, documentation, installation, training and consulting for the iTera HA high availability software for the IBM iSeries and i5 systems. Performed iSeries migrations with reduced minimal downtime using iTera HA.
Assisted in the development and implementation of the Upgrade While Active software package used by MedSeries4.
For MedSeries4 clients, performed detailed analysis of Account Receivable and Patient Accounting with the emphasis on AR reduction. Produced a gap analysis between current hospital billing functionality and needed outpatient clinic billing functionality. Performed electronic billing troubleshooting. Produced Patient Accounting productivity reports. Performed the year 2000 upgrades for nine hospitals and assisted on three others.
Directed the migrations of data and application software from three individual hospitals to corporate multi facility data center environment. Oversaw program modifications, verified new AS/400 multi facility environment system setups, consulted on remote access and infrastructure, coordinated the logistics of the move to minimize downtime, and insured data integrity. Assisted in the design and development of audit, productivity, and analytical software for the AS/400. Software included DataLync, a journaling data conversion tool; DataReporter, a new AS/400 report writer; and RPG reports. Helped implement and trained Discoverer, a new Oracle report writer, for IMN staff and clients in Texas.
SHARED MEDICAL SYSTEMS, Salt Lake City, Utah (now known as Siemens-MedSeries4) 1996 – 1998
Senior Analyst - Coordinated the development of MedSeries4 Advanced Clinical Enhancements applications as part of the Technology and Advanced Solutions team. Advanced Clinicals are client/server applications using the AS/400 for a server. Performed initial unit testing and change management. Set up and maintained a project plan for a $2 million grant from IBM to use IBM’s latest technology.
ASSIST INTERNATIONAL, Salt Lake City, Utah 1995 – 1996
Learning Center Director - Directed the inception of a training department. Analyzed, planned, and managed the creation of training manuals. Set standards for gathering the information from subject matter experts. Designed and produced a prototype chapter along with a style guide to facilitate the process of translating the subject matter information into actual training manuals. (Was the basis/standard for over 30 training and documentation manuals with over 15,000 pages.) Designed a new learning center facility with the latest state of the art equipment, and environment.
CELLULAR ONE, Salt Lake City, Utah (now known as AT&T Wireless Communications) 1994 – 1995
MIS Manager - Directed MIS department for Utah/Idaho district. Responsible for operations of LAN, WAN(Enterprise network), local PBX, satellite offices' connectivity, remote e-mail access and programming. After auditing and documenting the different system processes, new policy and procedures were implemented. These changes produced smoother processing and greater department efficiency. Programmed and initiated an automated tracking system that provided faster turn around for the help desk/MIS request log. Managed install of new LAN server, wiring projects, PC installs, software/hardware upgrades, and systems maintenance. Participated in regional meetings resulting in regional economies of scale.
UNIVERSITY MEDICAL CENTER, Las Vegas, Nevada (MedSeries4) 1992 – 1994
Senior Software Systems Analyst - Researched, evaluated, planned, and implemented the overall hospital software applications requirements. Major emphasis included AR and billing systems, implementing software releases, automating computer interfaces for electronic billing, posting, and data retrieval. Facilitated a process management group to reduce Medicare AR days. Managed other analysts, PC technicians, DP operations, and programmers. Advisory Health Information Systems Engineer - Provided technical solutions to exceptionally difficult computer and hospital system problems needing solutions outside of normal means. Developed resolutions involving both computer/application software and hospital system procedures. Presented national consulting/training on: IBM AS/400 setup, use, and tuning, also, AR and billing editor software and installation.
Assistant Director of Support/Technical Consultant - Directed the QA, documentation, and client support departments. Organized major software releases. Initiated and directed the first QA department for company. Directed development of a new UB82 electronic claims Editor. Contracted with national consultant to aid in re-organizing the process, content, and format used by the documentation department. Assisted in developing and trained the Fast Start program for new IBM AS/400 computer clients. Provided consulting for IBM System/38 and AS/400 computers, which led to rewriting and automation of day-end programs.
Data Processing Manager - Managed Data Processing operations, budgets, expenses, software applications, computer upgrades, PC connections, and corporate interactions. Managed processing for the host hospital and two remote hospitals. Automated manual DP procedures and improved access to off-line data.
