FIRST DATA BANK

Research Associate (5/02 - 8/02)

In my position at First Data Bank, I was responsible for consumer drug information. My primary functions included writing monographs for prescription and non-prescription drugs. Working closely with lawyers and two pharmacists to inform consumers on all necessary information as required by FDA Standards. Other duties included drug interaction monitoring, investigational drug studies, informing consumers on recalls or market withdrawls, severe adverse effects, differences in requirements between United States and Canada drug standards and information available. Shortly after my joining their team, the company was ruled a monopoly and forced to sell off half of the company’s information and staff to form a new competitor. The company merged their two locations and only kept the senior most employees. However, I left with much more knowledge in many aspects of healthcare, administration, consumer regulations, and pharmacy law.

LOS GATOS COMMUNITY HOSPITAL

Pharmacy Technician (1/99 - 8/01)

IV Room duties included: IV Rounds, Labeling of premixed IV’s, Preparation of LVP’s,

Antibiotics, TPN, PPN, Neonatal TPN’s, Epidurals, PCA syringes, and preparation and handling of chemotherapy medication. I also was responsible of ordering and restocking the IV room during my shift. Other duties included Unit Dose cassette fill and delivery; order entry, Pyxis administration and stocking. During my time here, I was responsible for training all new Pharmacy Technicians. Also worth mentioning, I was awarded two customer service lapel pins and was able to attend two of our customer service initiative luncheons.

AVOCET MEDICAL

Customer Support Specialist (3/01 - 7/01)

A medical device company that specializes in a hand held anticoagulation monitoring device, for point of care and at home use. My duties included, technical support and troubleshooting problems, and assure quality customer service to all types of customers. I was responsible for order entry, delivery scheduling and tracking, RMA processing, and tracking customer care, and complaint reporting and monitoring. Additional responsibilities included, assisting the sales and marketing team by preparing informational packets for mailing, by fax, or for use in trade shows. Additionally, I supported the sales team by ensuring any potential customers received any information, advertisements, studies, or pricing sheets. Also, when necessary I trained patients in their homes, doctors and nurses in their offices and occasionally over the phone. Unfortunately this company did not receive adequate backing from venture capitalist so they closed their doors in July 2001.

SAN JOSE MEDICAL CENTER

Pharmacy Technician (11/98 - 6/99)

In this inpatient environment, regular duties included all IV Room functions, Unit Dose cart cassette fill and delivery, Pyxis restocking, ordering, and inventory. Also, floated as needed to the outpatient pharmacy. Here I dispensed medication, insurance and medical billing, and customer interaction.

Customer Service Representative (4/95 - 1/97)

In this position my duties included, PBX operation which included handling incoming calls and dealing with customer complaints. Also worked on the floor having first hand interaction with customers as a lead customer service representative. Trained all new employees on how to properly handle customer returns, complaints, and sales transactions. During my employment with Service Merchandise I was named employee of the month twice, and my manager received several customer comment cards on my behalf.
