• May 2006 – to August 2010: Worked as a Ph.D. student on the thesis entitled “Evaluation of Cytokine Profile and TH1/TH2 shift in HIV-1 (Subtype C) infected Indian patients” under supervision of Dr. M. K. Agarwal (C.C.S.University Meerut) and Co-supervision Dr. Madhu Vajpayee (All India Institute of Medical Sciences, New Delhi).
• Major techniques practiced during Ph.D.:
• Immunophenotyping of various T-cell surface markers and measurement of intracellular cytokines by Flow Cytometry using whole blood and PBMCs.
• Data analysis and interpretation by Flowjo and CELLQuest software on FACS Calibur and BD LSR II instruments.
• IFN- ELISpot assay using 15 mer and 20 mer overlapping HIV-1 peptides.
• Data reporting and analysis by ELISpot reader (Carl Zeiss, CTL Immunospot)
• Determination of CD4+ and CD8+ T-cell counts and their subsets
• Determination of HIV-DNA using Amplicor HIV-1 DNA test kit (Roche Diagnostics)
