• I have more than 7.5 years of experience in various facets of quality department, especially in the field of Metallurgy, incoming inspection of materials, supplier quality systems audit, process and product quality improvement at supplier’s end, supplier development and ratings, in-house/supplier’s cost saving and quality improvement initiatives as projects especially related to design, materials, process improvements.

• Responsible for handling the Metallurgy and heat treatment (MHT) lab and is well familiar with the metallurgical testing and improvements for steels, cast irons, heat treated materials, components etc.

1. Worked with M/S Godrej & Boyce Mfg Corp. Ltd, Mohali as Manager, Quality Engineering Department from May 2007 June2011. The company deals with the manufacturing of latest technology Compressors & Refrigerators.

Key Responsibilities and Achievements

• Independently handling PMQ (Purchase Material Quality) department for both dimensional & metallurgical inspection of incoming materials.

• Supervising the quality audits of other departments (line audits) for assurance of consistent quality systems being followed.

• Responsible for suppliers’ development and providing required technical assistance in co-ordination with vendor development unit.

• Responsible for approving component quality, quality systems adequacy, quality plan and carrying out regular quality system audits at suppliers’ end.

• Required to provide assistance to R&D, Manufacturing and Materials team as well as our suppliers especially related to materials metallurgy.

• Actively involved in providing innovative cost/quality improvement ideas and Kaizens.

• Took 4 major projects during the last financial year in Mohali plant’s local PMO for cost and quality improvements in materials and processes which yielded a direct material cost saving of approx 80 lacks/annum and warranty cost reduction by 32 lacks.

• Competed and Won 2 national awards for quality and cost improvement, Qimpro Sep 2010 and CII, Nov 2010.

2. M/S Swaraj Mazda Ltd, Ropar

Worked as Engineer (Quality Department) with M/S Swaraj Mazda Ltd, Ropar from Nov.2004 to May 2007, an Automobile Industry engaged in the manufacturing of LCV’s & HCVs (trucks & buses).

• Responsible for Metallurgical Inspection of incoming material (steels, fasteners, cast irons, heat treated components, rubber components, sheet metal components, etc.)

• Periodic audits of critical components (shafts, gears, cyl head casting, cams, tappets, axle shaft, brake drums, Conn-rod, crank shaft, leaf springs etc.)

• Undertaken projects for the cost reduction / quality enhancement in components by making changes in design, materials etc.
