EMPLOYMENT EXPERIENCE
William Paterson University, Department of Chemistry Wayne, NJ
Adjunct Professor May 2009 – present
§ Presented lectures and lab courses in inorganic, organic and general chemistry;
§ Carried out instrument demonstrations to students from different departments;
§ Supervised students on their undergraduate research activities.
University of Siegen, Department of Chemistry and Biology Siegen, Germany
Graduate Research Assistant Oct. 2005 – Sep. 2008
§ Synthesized novel inorganic compounds with traditional crystallization techniques and solid state reactions and further characterized these using: single crystal and powder X-ray analysis (XRD), optical microscopy, Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM), vibrational spectroscopy (FTIR and Raman) and thermo-analytical methods (DSC and TGA);
§ Proficient with crystal structure solution and refinement.
§ Collaborated with members of other research groups in the same field (Max Plank Institute - Stuttgart, University of Mainz, etc.) and organized further investigations (e.g. HRTEM and Mössbauer spectroscopy measurements) of the new materials;
§ Trained students from the International Masters Program on carrying out measurements using XRD, SEM, vibrational spectroscopy (FTIR and Raman) and thermo-analytical methods (DSC and TGA);
§ Documented all performed experiments and preparations, and presented results in scientific conferences.
Ss. Cyril and Methodius University, Institute of Chemistry Skopje, Macedonia
Graduate Research and Teaching Assistant Jan. 2002 – Sep. 2005
§ Conducted instrument demonstrations (FTIR, UV-Vis, GC and HPLC) to students from different faculties and presented laboratory courses;
§ Collaborated with members of other Institutes (Faculty of Medicine and Pharmacy) and worked on the gas chromatographic analysis of pharmacokinetics of biperiden and bioluminescence determination of enzyme activity of firefly luciferase in the presence of pesticides.
§ Carried out qualitative and quantitative protein analysis of cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) and developed data analysis of the Gel Electrophoresis results by different statistical methods (a joint project as part of my master thesis with the Faculty of Medicine, Clinic of Neurology in Skopje, Macedonia);
§ Analyzed the saturated and unsaturated fatty acid content in vegetable oils by GC and developed analytical methods for the quantitative estimation of the concentrations of motor oil components with FTIR, as a part of a collaboration with the Macedonian Customs Administration.
