Resume:

Objective: I am seeking a work environment that offers interesting technical challenges, rewards creativity, and stresses quality of output. Ideally, this would be an environment where I could apply my extensive experience with embedded software designs to create new products and/or maintaining existing ones. Moreover, this would also be an environment where I could work cooperatively with like-minded individuals in a team format.

Summary of Experience: The majority of my experience over the past 25+ years pertains to embedded systems development with an emphasis on real-time, mufti-tasking, event-driven designs. I have worked with commercial micro-kernels and have even implemented my own when needed. My experience encompasses device driver and data path designs for both storage controllers and host adapters; I've also developed user interface code for various electronic instrumentation products.

Relevant Capabilities: I communicate well; both verbally and in writing. My professional writing involved such things as requirements documents, functional specifications, and other forms of technical communications. In a group environment, I can be counted on as being a contributing team player.

Silicon Image, Inc. (Fab-less chip design company based in Sunnyvale, CA)

As CMD Technology was bought by Silicon Image in May of 2001, I continued my role as principle firmware engineer. All firmware related projects were coded in C using the StrongARM embedded development tools by ARM ltd. Software efforts were multi-platform using C, C++, and JAVA.

• Firmware maintenance of existing CMD RAID product line

• Porting existing firmware to new SAN-oriented product line

• Design and implementation of EMC FRUMON emulation for Fibre Channel to SATA project w/EMC.

• Design and implementation of network communications interface for Silicon Image Software RAID product to run on Windows, MAC, and Linux platforms

1991 – 2001:

CMD Technology, Inc., Irvine, CA (RAID storage controller/subsystem mfgr.)

I was hired as senior firmware engineer in charge of bringing latest technologies for implementing real-time firmware design into CMD's R&D efforts for DEC (Digital Equipment Corp.) third-party products. CMD was purchased by Silicon Image in 2001. Efforts at CMD include:

• Designed and implemented CMD’s first real-time, multi-tasking executive for the Intel 80286 and MIPS R3000 processor

• Develop embedded firmware for many of CMD’s SCSI and DEC-specific host adapters and storage subsystems.

• Implemented RAID 0 & 1 for high-end DEC storage subsystem

• Maintained aspects of firmware for CMD’s RAID controller product line

• Managed aspects of Digital OEM RAID system designs

• Integrated a commercial TCP/IP stack into CMD’s StrongARM-based products
