Electro Mechanical Designer (June 2010 – December 2010)
Duties & Responsibilities:
• Served as Electro Mechanical Designer under contract on the corporate design, qualifications, and launch of 230KV Power Substation that utilized electro mechanical equipment. Various designs included: layouts, profiles showcasing phase clearances and installation details, checking structural plan sets, and development of digital Microstation V8i Data Base library details.
• Created and modified mechanical and electro-mechanical CAD drawings, schematic design diagrams and other documentation, complying with California PG&E standards. Documented complex designs, assisting in material and component selection, exercises individual judgment when selecting methods and procedures, and perform component and system testing.
• Interacted and collaborated with multiple inter-departmental team members on a daily basis to exchange critical design information and develop solutions to problems that could be extremely complex.
PBS&J & THINK RESOURCES (Consulting Firm of PBS&J), Raleigh/Charlotte, NC
Aviation Designer (April 2003 – April 2010)
• Contracted to PBS&J Civil Engineering and Surveying in Charlotte office processing raw survey data utilizing Microstation J, V8i, Geopak, and AutoCAD 2010 format. Facilitated and worked on Civil Engineering projects for subdivision development and City of Charlotte Light Rail Project.
• Hired permanent as Electrical Aviation Designer with the National Aviation Group in Raleigh, instrumental in the design plans for airfield lighting and signage.
• Created multiple definitions of parts, modules, and assemblies in the design plans with 2D cross sections, extremely close tolerance details of installation and placement of airfield equipment. Layout tolerances held to .000001 in Cad Files. Various electronic data formats to support analysis, manufacturing, assembly, tooling, and inspection for aviation designs.
• Collaborated and implemented methods and procedures to design various LED airfield lighting projects for both Military and GA airfields, development of grounding plans, light layout and Circuiting plans, trench layouts and cross section details showing installation, equipment and drainage. Rehab projects included the demolition of existing quartz lighting, upgrade to LED airfield electrical equipment for both cost efficiency and reliability.
• Some Projects include Atlanta’s new 10-28 runway and Bridge design, Dover Air Force Base Runway 14-32, Las Vegas McCarran Apron and taxi lanes.
• Developed and implemented layouts on both existing and new vaults, which house current regulators for output control of airfield lighting equipment. Maintained and organized document and quality control of all projects which were all governed by strict FAA and Military design criteria.
• Collaborated with various suppliers to generate designs and engineering part definitions.

Substation Engineer Analyst (May 2000 – October 2003)
• Contracted to Progress Energy’s Transmission/Distribution Substation Engineering Unit. Successfully utilized Microstation “J”, “V8” and I/RAS B and Project Wise File Management System to update Substation drawings with structural and schematic changes of both new substation designs and existing substations with equipment upgrades or replacements.
Assisted lead project engineering with grounding analysis for various KV substations including phase spacing and electrical clearance requirements for live conductors, switch components and bus support.
Drove, implemented, and supported 3D design models of substation equipment for future substation standards. CONTINUED
