Achievements

Pore pressure prediction

Successfully carried out real time prediction in Soku Deep within 0.01 psi/ft of expected case pre-drill prediction and confirmed by RCI measurements. Fracture gradient in depleted reservoirs prediction confirmed within 0.01 psi/ft in Soku Re-entry. Established the Nigeria Pore Pressure Database, a basic tool for HPHT exploration in Nigeria. Subject matter expert in pore pressure prediction and well bore stability in Shell Sub- Saharan Africa.

Details of discoveries

Proposed more than 80 locations

• Proposed location Mandapeta Onland structure. Proved to be the first oil bearing well within Gondawanas in the Mandapeta area. Discovered oil and gas in Gondwana rocks.

• Conceived and discovered the fifth culmination of North Kadi field in 1996 resulting in substantial reserve accretion and enhanced oil production and thus rejuvenating a 25 year old aquifer driven field.

• Based on a new seismo-geological model, the discovery wells SBBH &SBBR resulted in the northward extension of Sobhasan field, the area remaining un-explored for the past 20 years underlying urban populated locale.

• Linch 21 &23 proposed by me was the precursor for Mehsana pay exploration in Linch area. The latter well has produced almost a million barrels till date.

• The development location (LNDA)-LINCH-30, proposed as a member of Linch task force-1 resulted in 70m of oil pay and was highlighted in the achievements of ONGC in 1998-99.

• A VSP based seismic modeling resulted in the extension of eastern part of North Kadi field-NK-328 (NKXL) in the NK 302 adjunct structure.

• A seismo– geological model proved the western extension of Santhal field and further a synchronous sand model for deeper sands established.

• Strike wells Jotana-99 & 100 based on Strati-structural model resulted in providing a new thrust for exploring deeper sands (Linch pays).

• Based on an integrated study, a large onland area was mapped covering South Kadi, North Kadi,Santhal, Linch, Jotana & Warosan depression for exploring the deeper Linch sands (Linch task force ii). Fourteen locations were proposed in April 2000 of which eleven locations were released.

• The first location TKNK-1 drilled as well no. North kadi-367 has proved the prospectivity of Jakasana area (west of Linch) wherein multiple Linch sands and additionally Mehsana pays were encountered leading to substantial reserve accretion. The well is on sustained production @ 300 barrels a day from only one zone. The reserve accretion is of the order of 20 million barrels.

• Two locations in the central part of Linch TLNK (drilled as Linch –36) and TFLN –1( drilled as Linch-41) located on either side of the Jotana main fault in the cross trend area has proved oil within the Linch sands leading to substantial reserve accretion . Both the wells are on sustained production @ 700 BOPD and 400 BOPD respectively.

• Location TFJN-9(drilled as well no J-151) in south Jotana revealed the extension of productive Linch sands opening up the flank areas of Jotana structure for delineation. Another location JNCT (well no. Linch-42) has indicated oil in the Mandhali section and produced oil@ 500 BOPD.

• A high risk, high gain location Langhnaj-13 drilled on the rising part of Nandasan low resulted in the development of 20 meters oil column.Langhnaj-17 proposed as an exploratory location provided the impetus for Kalol (Sertha member )exploration. Langhnaj-21 based primarily on a stratigraphic feature (backed by a geological model) of a thin bed reservoir, where a huge burst of amplitude at tuning thickness was recognized, flowed oil from Kalol sands.

• Extended near field exploration on eastern flank of North Kadi after a decade of discovering the fifth culmination succeeded in enhancing reserves in 2007.
