I am looking for an applications engineer, project manager or project engineer position. I am able to handle equipment/automation projects from implementation to installation and launch. I have been in the automation/machine tool industry for 20 years with experience in design, build and debug of this equipment. My goal is to save the company money in the most cost effective way.

Professional Experience

Chrysler Corporation- Auburn Hills, MI 1995-2008

Process Equipment Program Manager

• Managed all issues meetings and timelines during the design, build, debug, install and launch phases of a program.

• Interfaced with Chrysler product design, plant, suppliers and installation contractors to complete projects.

• Coordinated the electricians, pipefitters and millwright trades during installation and launch.

• Managed the process and design of the mechanical and controls for the manufacturing tooling with suppliers for lean manufacturing design and cost effectiveness.

• Responsible for writing all quote packages, running bid meetings and quote review for all assigned projects.

Truck Platform-Body-in-White Group 2005-2008

• Managed the kitting of the Box Outer automatic robotic welding system at the St. Louis North Assembly plant for the 2009 Dodge Ram truck. This line is capable of running 6 different styles for both the present production and the new vehicle.

• Managed all the needed tooling for the Fender assembly robotic weld cell upgrade, Fender setter automatic cell, Hood install, lift gate install and door install for the Chrysler Aspen built in Newark, Delaware

Minivan Platform- Trim/Chassis/Final Group 2002-2005

• Responsible for the Tub insertion cell and Prime cell for the 2004 Stow and Go minivans built in Windsor, Canada and St. Louis South Assembly plants.

• The tub insertion is a 9 robot cell using Nachi robots that automatically retrieves a tub from the rack using a Cognex vision system, applies a urethane bead of adhesive with a Nordson dispense system, then installs the tub into the opening of the minivan floor. This system eliminated 12 operators from the plant for a $1.2 million savings per year.

Jeep Platform – Trim/Chassis/Final Group 1997-2002

• Reconfigured the Jefferson North assembly plant glass cell to accommodate the 1998 Jeep Cherokee, the 2003 Jeep Cherokee and the 2004 Jeep Commander. This cell automatically installs the windshield, side glass and roof glass.

• Managed the new automatic robotic glass cell for the 2001 Jeep Liberty built in Toledo, Ohio. This system uses a Perceptron vision system to locate the windshield and side glass openings. Part of the team that designed the layout of the new assembly plant.

• Responsible for the Atlas-Copco nut runner tooling and assist arms to install the Lift gate glass, wiper modules and washer system for the 2001 Jeep Liberty.

• Managed the new concept design team including the plant, product design and PCU (supplier) for the Temperature Compensation units for the 1998 Jeep Cherokee built at the Jefferson North assembly plant. This machine would determine the temperature of the ATF transmission fluid and then automatically fill the transmission to the correct level.

Power train Platform – Transmission Group 1995-1997

• Responsible for coordinating the plant layout and installation contractors of the sub-assembly and final assembly areas for the new 45RFE transmission built in Kokomo, Indiana.

• Part of the team that designed and built the new assembly plant for the new transmission.

ABB Robotics Corporation-Auburn Hills, MI 1993-1995

Process Equipment Program Manager

• Automotive tooling supplier that design, build and install manufacturing equipment.

• Managed the ABB team for the 1996 Chrysler minivan glass cells for the Windsor, Canada and St. Louis South assembly plants.

• Leading the mechanical and controls design; any customer issues; all financial cost tracking; build of the cells on ABB’s shop floor; debug and installation of the cells through launch for both plants.

Branson Ultrasonic Corporation-Rochester, MI 1993

Engineering manager

• Tier 1supplier of special machines to weld plastic together.

• Responsible/Managed a 6 person engineering staff and a 2 person service tech staff.

• Tracked customer timing/issues, cost tracking, department budgets and shipping of machines.

Douglas and Lomason Company- Farmington Hills, MI 1989-1993

Program Manger/Manufacturing Engineer

• Tier 1 supplier of automotive seating and exterior ornamentation.

• Program manager for the rear jump seat for General Motor’s full size truck built in the Arlington, Texas and for the “B” and “C” pillar program for Chrysler’s 1992 Intrepid and Concord built in the Bramelea, Canada. Responsible for all customers issues; mechanical and controls design of the production tooling; financial cost tracking; program timing; part build for the different pilot build phases.

• Manufacturing Engineer based out of corporate head quarters for 13 production plants. Responsible for injection mold, seat foam machines and welding cells.

Tri Mark Metal Corporation-Detroit, MI 1989

Controls Engineer

• Tier 1 supplier of automotive paint finishing equipment.

• Designed and debugged the controls hardware and software for the spray booths, ovens, e-coat tanks and phosphate tanks. Responsible for all control panel design, field wiring to external units and PLC hardware design.

• Onsite installation manager for the 1990 General Motors Lumina program in Terry town, New York.
