OBJECTIVE
Mechanical Design position capitalizing on experience in design, detailing, and 3D Modeling.
* Competent in communicating with engineers to understand and meet project objectives.
* Recognized for ability to develop parts to meet assembly and manufacturability requirements.
EXPERIENCE
Xerox Corporation, Rochester, NY
Project Designer 1975-2002
* Designed and detailed mechanical parts, assemblies, and sub-assemblies for new and existing products while maintaining quality, cost, and delivery objectives.
* Collaborated with engineers to assess project needs and determine specifications, materials, and features.
* Reviewed completed parts to ensure compliance with original design intent.
* Conducted tolerance studies.
* Designed test fixtures.
Highlights Xerox
* Redesigned subsystem (customer replaceable unit) for a mid-volume copier/printer that resulted in significantly improving performance. Worked with engineers to implement reliability and cost-down improvements.
* Defined and developed cover strategy for a low-volume copier product. Designed lift points and alternate cover geometries.
* Conducted architectural studies for a low-volume copier. Created layouts for horizontal transport, door module, and paper path.
* Designed, redesigned, and detailed developer and auto-duplex system for low-volume copiers, implementing cost savings, and improved reliability.
* Redesigned drives to increase speed for new products.
Delphi Corporation, Henrietta, NY
Designer 2003-2008 using Unigraphics NX3 and Team Center
Highlights Delphi
* Designed various heated fuel injectors. Provided different concepts to heat fuel while passing
through the injector. Taken the design from concept stage to production build.
* Designed a calibration fixture to set the core spring rate load necessary to keep an injector from leaking but, still able to open as needed while the fuel is running through the injector.
* Redesign of existing spray patternator fixture to remove excess clearances, provide a more positive way to secure parts to fixture, obtain greater adjustments of parts on the fixture and provide the ability to test skewed injectors on this fixture.
* Designed a fixture to dynamically test the characteristics of a coil.
* Designed a fixture to test the spray characteristics of Delphi’s and competitors injectors.
* Designed a fixture to measure airflow, swirl, and tumble for a diesel head.
* Using Engineering supplied model, designed and detailed parts and assemblies needed to meet Engineering requirements for the Variable Valve Actuation Model.
* Designed a fixture to test the Variable Valve Actuation design.
Navistar Inc., Fort Wayne, Indiana
