PROJECT EXPERIENCE

Masters thesis project: Designed program to study speech intelligibility performance for young listeners and elderly normal-hearing listeners within complex environments; compared the differences in performance, establishing a venue for studying the auditory deficiencies of the elderly. Thesis titled “The Effects of Aging on Speech Intelligibility with Speech Maskers: Effects of Reverberation, Pitch, and Spatial Separation”.

Senior project: target tracking algorithm in Wireless Sensor Network, published a paper with my supervisors. Thesis titled “Collaborative Target Tracking in Resourced Constrained Wireless Sensor Network”.

Other projects:

Identify vulnerable plaque in artery by using MRI machine at Boston University Medical Campus

Automated cell tracking under microscope (lab rotation at Boston University)

Researched watermarking of binary image during participation in Undergraduate Research Experience on Campus (URECA: a research opportunity for top 5% students) in third year of undergraduate study

Developed software for noise reduction in speech signals as part of inter-semester project

SKILLS

Computer: Matlab, C, C++,SQL, Cache, Java, Pro-Engineer, SPSS,ImageJ, Shell, Excel, assembly language, and Python

Wet Lab: primary mammalian cell culture, western blot, gene cloning, plaque assay, RT-PCR, MRI, protein production in E.Coli and yeast

Foreign language: Chinese, and some Japanese

Others: signal and systems, medical imaging, biomedical optics and biophotonics, intellectual property and biomedical innovation

PUBLICATION

Wendong Xiao, LihuaXie, Jianyong Lin, and Jianing Li, Multi-sensor Scheduling for Reliable Target Tracking in Wireless Sensor Networks, 2006 6th International Conference on ITS Telecommunications Proceedings (ITST2006).
