Worldwide leader in the engineering, manufacturing and installation of architectural envelopes (curtain walls), Permasteelisa acquired the business in December of 2000, specializing in aluminum and steel architectural envelopes.

Quality Assurance Manager

Was employed by the Chicago division, manufacturing curtain wall units for clients such as Trump Towers, 300 North LaSalle, the Blue Cross Blue Shield expansion project, and several other high rise construction projects in the Chicago area. Responsibilities include:

Indalex, purchased by Sun Capital Partners in 2006, manufactures soft alloy aluminum products sold to automotive, construction, consumer durable, and electrical industries. The company has 3500 employees and annual sales of $660 million.

Quality Assurance Manager

Designed and implemented a total quality system and culture and centralized quality decisions and records. Used

reported data and production monitoring to improve product quality. Improved internal, external and supplier audit procedures. Served as key member of Management Review Board and supervised quality assurance personnel and lab technicians.

Regional Quality Assurance Manager (1999-2001)

Employed by this leading metals distributor with responsibility for the quality performance of the main processing center and three regional facilities. Maintained specification library, document control system, and instrument calibration records. Performed test report verification of chemical content and mechanical properties.

• Obtained ISO 9002 certification for the Cambridge processing center and 3 regional facilities.

• Reduced occurrences of corrective actions by 87% while improving employee relations and level of quality training.

• Trained U.S., Canadian, and United Kingdom personnel in ISO 9002 procedures and extrusion inspection and Ohio staff on aerospace products applications.

Quality Assurance Supervisor

Supervised 1st and 2nd shift inspection, packaging, and shipping/receiving personnel.

• Identified/verified all incoming product and materials against valid purchase orders and conformity with established quality control procedures, performed visual and dimensional inspection of material, and ensured material was properly handled and stored in a manner to maintain the utmost in product quality.

• Investigated all instances of non-conformance and worked with appropriate departments to ensure timely and ultimate resolution of these materials.

Acquired by Transtar Metals, Tiernay is part of the industry’s leading suppliers of performance metals to the aerospace and defense industries. Transtar distributes over 70,000 products through centers in 30 worldwide locations.

Supervisor (1988-1993)

Managed the 2nd and 3rd shifts of the quality control, inspection, and shipping/receiving departments.

• Supervised personnel performing product hardness and conductivity tests and precision cutting of extrusions to close tolerances. .

• Administered quarterly testing of all inspectors regarding bow, twist, angularity, surface conditions, dims, etc. and all forklift training.

• Trained all new employees on TQM, safety and teamwork, wrote and administered employee performance reviews, coordinated all personnel issues with Personnel department, and trained team on computer basics.
