Fleet Operations

Direct responsibilities include the maintenance & operations for a fleet of 500 medium and heavy-duty vehicles that support daily operations for two natural gas utility companies. Organizational responsibilities include the direction of two Supervisors along with 12 full time certified ASE (Automotive Service Excellence) technicians that provide scheduled and unscheduled vehicle repair work. Work includes scheduled Preventive Maintenance Inspections that include A, B, & C type inspections along with daily demand repair work. Financial responsibility includes overseeing an annual Operation & Maintenance Fleet Budget that exceeds $7 Million Dollars. Monthly metrics includes Fleet Availability, Garage Performance-Task Codes, & Billable Hours. Other experience includes thorough knowledge of standard practices and equipment of the automotive mechanic trade. Knowledge of accepted managerial practices and techniques, and skill. Knowledge of planning and budgeting practices and techniques, and skill in the application. Knowledge of the principles of operation of gasoline and diesel engines and of mechanical repair on heavy trucks and construction equipment. Knowledge of the occupational hazards and safety precautions of the trade. Knowledge of proper techniques in the use and care of hand and machine tools employed in motor repair and adjustment work. Material Management:

Supply chain management experience includes the management & operation for two warehouses that are in excess of 500,000 S.F. each that support operations for construction and maintenance for two natural gas utility companies. Responsibilities include the supervision of two supervisors and 7 material clerks. Daily operations include the process of material stock requisitions, material receiving, material issuance, weekly cycle counts, and project forecasting. Financial responsibility includes the management of an annual Material Management budget in excess of $850,000. Metrics includes monthly Inventory Turns, Inventory Accuracy, and Critical Item Availability.

2006-2007: Laidlaw Educational Services Hartford, CT

Title: Service Manager

Duties Include: Managing a full service heavy-duty vehicle repair shop that supports a fleet of 315 buses.

Areas of concern include managing a staff of 16 full time mechanics that provide preventive maintenance inspections & repairs on gas & diesel powered vehicles. Other duties include daily vehicle repair order input (Vtrak), parts room management, inventory control, shop safety, vehicle scheduling, fuel delivery, and accident investigations.
