My brother and I entered in to a land development project where we were to purchase and develop 151 areas in Minooka, IL. The plan was to develop the land and sell the plots to custom house builders who would than build custom residential homes within the newly developed subdivision. I have completed most of the primary due dalliance and engineer work and worked out most of the issues which come to pass; however, and as fate would have it the bottom dropped out of the housing industry and the funding for the project has gone by the way side.

The North South Toll way South Extension at the I-80 Interchange Improvement
I was the project manager for $40.1 million project for the Illinois State Toll Highway Authority (ISTHA). Duties included scheduling daily construction activities, purchasing agent for all materials required for the project, coordination of all subcontractors, shop drawing review and submittal, pay estimate, tracking quantities on daily basis, change order request, force account submittal, Primavera Project Manager scheduling and submittals and meeting with the client to resolve any issues. The project consisted of the following of construction of two mail line lanes northbound and southbound along the new 355 South extension, the construction of a new interchange at the junction of interstate I-80, removal and reconstruction of existing Cedar road, removal of the existing Cedar road bridge structure over the interstate 80, and construction of new bridges carrying Cedar road over the interstate 355, and ramps SE and EN over Interstate 80 and ramp SE over Ramp EN at the new Interstate 355/interstate 80 interchange, construction of concrete culverts at Ramp EN and Ramp WN, placement of overhead sign structure, sign panels, and luminaries, installation of roadway lighting for interstate 355 and for the new interchange at interstate 80, pavement marking, raised, pavement markers, delineators and guardrail for improvements.

The FAI Route 80 at FAI Route 55 interchanges improvement
I was the project manager for $24.5 Million Project for the Illinois Department of Transportation. Duties included scheduling daily construction activities, purchasing agent for all materials required for the project, coordination of all subcontractors, shop drawing review and submittal, pay estimate, tracking quantities on daily basis, change order request, force account submittal and meeting with the client to resolve any issues. The project consists of the removal of the existing loop and connector ramps and replacing them on a new alignment. The project also includes the addition of a third through lane on FAI 55 from FAI 80 to the north project limit. The south parapet will be removed along with portions of the deck, abutments and wing walls of the eastbound FAI 80 Bridge over the Frontage Road. Other work on this bridge consists of widening the concrete deck and closed abutments and constructing new wing walls. The north wing walls for the westbound FAI 80 Bridge over the Frontage Road will be partially removed. New retaining walls and a new reinforced concrete bridge with closed abutments and wing walls for Ramp A will be constructed. Substructure repair work will also be performed on the westbound FAI 80 Bridge over the Frontage Road. Other work will includes pavement removal, guardrail removal and new installation, shoulder removal and replacement, concrete pavement, bituminous surface removal, bituminous concrete binder and surface, earthwork, drainage, lighting, pavement striping, sign installation, landscaping, restoration, and all necessary and related road work.
Thornton-Lansing Road 325 meters east and west of IL 394 (F.A.P. Route 332)
I was also the project manager for $2.45 million project for the Illinois Department of Transportation. Duties included scheduling daily construction activities, purchasing agent for all materials required for the project, coordination of all subcontractors, shop drawing review and submittal, pay estimate, tracking quantities on daily basis, change order request, force account submittal and meeting with the client to resolve any issues. The project consisted of the following removal and replacement of the existing structure carrying Illinois Route 394 under Thornton-Lansing Road with a 2-span @ 35.40m concrete and steel beam bridge and frontage road work with full-depth bituminous concrete pavement.

The design consisted of a historic rehabilitation of a six span open spandrel arch bridge including concrete repair, concrete superstructure replacement, approach roadway with curb and gutter, drainage structures and lighting on North Avenue over Fox River in Aurora, IL. Duties included the observation of all work performed on jobsite along with overseeing the production of precast concrete beams, spandrels, & hand rails at a local plant. My team earned a 7.6 (Good) as an overall rating from IDOT.

I-290 Route 56 to I-90/94 (Eisenhower Expressway) Reconstruction, Cook County, IL: 1998/99
I was a Materials Coordinator for $21 million Illinois Department of Transportation roadway resurfacing and rehabilitation project. Work included bituminous surface removal, pavement rehabilitation, replacement of bridge bearings, pavement markings, and maintenance of traffic, all restricted to night work, with the roadway open to traffic at 5:00 A.M. each morning. Duties included the observation of all work performed on job site along with overseeing the production of asphalt and concrete at local plants. I was responsible for six field and plant technicians, maintain testing equipment, and headed up an industry wide task force on segregation, documentation, and assisted in many other activities related to the contract. The team earned a 9.7 (excellent) as an overall rating from IDOT.

I was the Materials Coordinator for $ 6.0 million Illinois Department of Transportation bridge reconstruction projects. Work included removal of the existing 3-span box beam superstructure and replacement with a five-span 94.77 M continuous composite steel beam superstructure on the bridge carrying over 69th Street over the Dan Ryan Expressway. Replacement of the superstructure of the existing three-span, 2 @ 18.95M structure carrying Martin Luther King Drive over FAI Route 94 (Bishop Ford Expressway. Duties included the observation of all work performed on job site along with overseeing the production of asphalt and concrete at local plants.
