Project Work
• Mini project (Bi Directional speed control of dc motor).
This project allows controlling the speed of a DC motor in both the forward and reverse direction. The range of control is from fully OFF to fully ON in both directions.
Normally, switches are used to change the direction of rotation of a DC motor. Change the polarity of the applied voltage and the motor spins the other way! However this has the disadvantage that a DPDT switch has to be added to change the polarity of the applied voltage. Here we have two things to control the motor – a direction switch as well as the speed control.
Also, it is not a good idea to suddenly reverse the voltage on a DC motor while it is spinning. It can cause a current surge that can burn out the speed controller. Not to mention any mechanical stress it can cause as well.
This project overcomes both these problems. The direction and speed is controlled using a single potentiometer. Turning the pot in one direction causes the motor to start spinning. Turning the pot in the other direction causes the motor to spin in the opposite direction. The center position on the pot is OFF, forcing the motor to slow and stop before changing direction.
• Networked energy meter with automated load management and billing.
Completed the project in collaboration with Kerala State Electricity Board, Kollam.
In order to overcome the disadvantages of the traditional meter reading system, efforts are underway around the world to automate meter reading and to provide comprehensive information to the consumer for efficient use of the utilities.
The work reported in this project is about a complete system starting from the accurate measurement of the real system data, converting it for wireless transmission, receiving and processing data for energy billing management. Graphical user interface software is developed in “JAVA” for the billing system based on the corresponding energy reading. Customer service is improved through this remote and automated meter reading system & more credible utility bills are produced. This project paves the way for efficient power management.
The proposal also deals the misuse of power with the help of a tamper protection scheme. Once the meter is tampered, it cuts off the load line to the consumer and also sends a message to the server, which displays the consumer id and a message stating the meter has been tampered.
Main points of focus in our proposal.
Billing Automation
Revenue Collection Efficiency
Transparency in distribution
Better customer Service
Zero man-made errors
Efficient and time based automated power management
Tamper detection and indication
Easy implementation of new tariff.
Professional Experience
Excellent social qualities, excellent performance in all the above fields. Good communication and management skills, sincere, confident and dedicated approach towards work, problem solving skill, ability to complete the job assigned with precision in the specified time, and willing to learn and implement new ideas in the work atmosphere.
Knows Various Programming Languages including C,CPP and Java. Good Knowledge in Handling most of the present packages in computer. Has given assistance in maintaining system and repairing, assembling etc..
For Past six months, working as Supervisory Engineer(from June-Nov 2011), giving technical assistance in sites and in drawing electrical layouts for these sites Preparing Reports etc. Knows to calculate Load and preparing Schemes and Completion Reports.( ESSJAY ELECTROLINKS an A Grade Electrical Consultancy.)
