Provided direct therapeutic services for children ages 0-5 and their families. This involved weekly individual play therapy sessions with the children in the community at their homes, schools, or tenant service sites. Also included individual therapy with their parents and family therapy sessions.
Facilitated children’s groups and parent support groups, both on going and short term. Created and implemented parent/infant young toddler developmental play group. Also created and ran parent support groups on stress reduction, coping skills, child development, and discipline. Facilitated a women’s general support group focusing on building natural support systems and empowerment.
Provided linkages and referrals to other support systems for parents and their families as needed. Aided parents in advocating for their child’s specific needs in schools and other programs. Included working within SFUSD, involvement with SSTs and IEPs, coordinating assessments and collaborating on treatment plans.
