Research Project Experience
Quantification of the mRNA and functional protein levels of IL-8 chemokines
• Stimulated human peripheral mononuclear blood cells (PMBCs) using lipopolysacchrides (LPS)
• Utilized the ELISA assay and RT-PCR screening to obtain mRNA and functional protein levels of IL-8 chemokines
Performed research and development on alternative approaches to present day organ transplantation treatment
• Constructed National Institute of Health (NIH) proposals for liver, heart and pancreas regeneration in vitro employing molecular signaling pathways, stem cells and bio-reactors
Designed a non-invasive research instrument for the early detection of atherosclerosis by testing for the best prototype
• This tool uses infra-red technology to determine the pulse wave velocity of the radial artery.
• The resultant data, along with the Moens’ Korteweg equation, was used to obtain the elasticity of the radial artery
Research Experience
Drexel University November 2011- May 2012
Researcher under Dr. Balasubramanian
• Contribute to the quantification of the spine and thoracic cage structure and its correlation to pulmonary function in scoliosis patients with the help of Engauge Digitizer.
• Use Mimics to quantify vertebral sections of the spinal cord for cross comparison of scoliosis between species
• Use Cortex Motion Analysis to analyze the various effects of the seat-belt system on children seated in the car
BARD Holding, Inc March-September 2011
Research and development-Technical Assistant
• Analyzed algal cultures using the Millipore Guava easyCyte FlowCytometer for lipids and chlorophyll identification
• Engineered the process flow for optimum algal growth and high lipid content of algae
• Constructed quality protocols and standard operating procedures for the proper application of enzymatic reagents, algal media, instrumentation and maintenance of system components
National Center for Biological Sciences, TIFR Bangalore, India
December 2009-March 2010
Research trainee under Dr. Obaid Siddiqi in Behavioral and Neurobiology
• Researched navigation methods of Drosophila melanogaster larvae, for comparison when presented with ethyl acetate
• Developed tracks with MATLAB to study parameters among every larva for comparison in different odor concentrations
• Modeled a real time system for the behavior of larvae in their natural environment.
