PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE
SAMTEC, INC., New Albany, IN: 2004 – Present
Designs and manufactures electronic interconnect to a global marketplace. Annual revenues of $450 million with approximately 2000 employees globally.
Manufacturing Supervisor (2010 – Present)
Scope of responsibilities includes directing 30+ production workers building product comprised of micro coaxial component cables, high data rate , RF, flat flexible cable, and wire harness assemblies. Accountable for evaluations of production workers focused on ensuring on–time shipment, international product transfer, and manufacturing change initiatives.
•Identified excessive labor costs within department and initiated change process. Delivered $180,000 annual savings in area responsible for 7% of free sample orders.
•Conceived innovative training program in Micro Coaxial Product Center. Improved extrusion of PVC jacket by 50%.
•Consistently meet/exceed stringent on–time order shipping deadlines and ensure timely transfer of product to low–cost production facilities in Costa Rica and China.
•Integral source for communicating change drawings / processes to engineer through red line prints to improve manufacturability of products.
Design and Implementation Engineer (2005 – 2010)
Held full accountability for debugging new electronic interconnect design, including interacting with injection molding and stamping suppliers in the US and China to ensure accuracy of component specifications. Process involved re–design, qualification testing, and pre–production runs, and collaborating with project managers to achieve target of a 40 week time to market for each product.
•Designed new products for the Samtec catalog and new designs generated through Field Application Engineers, including detailing and providing red line to draftsmen.
•Developed sealed circular Ethernet port resulting in largest seller in family of products.
•Recognized as Geometric Dimensional and Tolerancing (GD&T) expert and introduced training class in concert with developing standard for print dimensioning using GD&T.
•Produced $0.5 million in annual savings as a result of identifying and rectifying bottleneck in new product testing process.
