 Part of a 2 person development team which developed a working proof of concept demo (JNMS Lite) as a product replacement for an extremely large legacy application in use by US military joint forces.

o Broke down development into 2 phases.

 Resource gathering phase which included harvesting databases from a diverse set of sources. Resource generation which included creating bitmaps stencil set artwork from concept diagrams.

 Software development phase which included creating MS Office application add-ins in C# to duplicate targeted functionality.

o Delivered functional and on time demo with less than 320 development man hours of labor (2 people, 29 days)

 Fixed difficult upgrade issue for JNMS reporting. Fix allowed the reporting subsystem to migrate to MS Office 2007.

 Documented application and work done.

 Delivered multiple versions of a corrosion calculator to a major oil company.

o Wrote interface, Automation and GUI code to connect Excel with COM exposed calculator libraries.

o Application allowed client to plan and execute refinery campaigns with confidence of a successful outcome by:

 Showing safe and unsafe crude mixtures.

 Indicating a safe amount of time to run a campaign.

 Indicating when and how long different temperatures should be used in different parts of the refinery.

 Indicating if fouling conditions are going to occur or if they are likely to occur. (Fouling is bad, it’s very costly and time consuming to fix)

 Visually mapping out temporal crude qualities.

 Troubleshot MSI package issues of application components being deleted and installed at the wrong times.

 Wrote and implemented application to automate the writing of estimated 100,000 timeline books.

 Wrote and implemented a mission critical applications monitor which allowed programmers to respond and fix most problems within minutes of detection with Access, Outlook, VBA and remote desktop.

o This was an in-process innovation to allow me to reach a tight deadline of running and readying 25,000 titles for distribution to distributors in 2 weeks time. (It impressed the boss.)

 Harvested, cleaned, formatted and made ready extremely large databases (i.e., British Library of Congress, US and International Patents, Medical Journals, Project Gutenberg, etc...) for book creation using Access, Excel and VBA.
