Dental Hygiene Experience

Currently -Serve as an adjunct Dental Hygiene instructor at Catawba Valley Community College in Hickory, NC. Use computer skills to create many power point lectures, tests, laboratory competencies and even Lab Manuals to help students keep organized in classes. Upload documents to the electronic blackboard to communicate with students. Use an electronic spreadsheet to communicate grades to students. “Coach” students in periodontal treatment planning in their clinical situation. Volunteered in “Give Kids a Smile” sealant projects for several years placing sealants on elementary school age children. Assessed inventory of dental materials used in the entire clinic and made clinic notebooks for all MSDS sheets to comply with OSHA standards. Help students take full mouth series of x-rays, and panoramic films. Teach students to take impression, pour models and make bleaching trays. I oversee use and cleaning of autoclaves and ultrasonic cleaners.

Currently - Filled in for Dr. Perry in Statesville, NC.Worked for Dr. Apgar as a private practice Dental Hygienist in Statesville, NC. Performed adult prophylaxis and child prophylaxis. The treatment included periodontal probing charts, dental charts and x-rays. Confirmed patients to remind them of their appointments. Gave personal instructions to each patient depending on the care they required. Worked for several general dentists and periodontists in Wilmington, NC and also in Los Angeles, San Jose, Santa Clara, and Newport Beach, California.
