R & D Engineer September 2008 –Current

Hawthorne & York International, Ltd., Phoenix, Arizona

• Finite Element Analysis of various consulting projects like biomechanics, automotive crash simulation, energy absorbing systems

• Simulated the impact of a Ford 250 pick up truck on a freeway signpost

• Finite Element Modeling and Simulation of various NIJ level body armor plates – modeled projectiles, composite and ceramic materials

• Modeled the axisymmetric hypersonic vehicle using HYPERMESH and LS-PREPOST

• Surveyed and evaluated the demand for Refractory Ceramic Fibre in the Passive Fire Protection application in Bombay, India. Explored new customers, understood their requirements and assessed the business potential in the process

• Identified and eliminated assignable causes in the ceramic fibre manufacturing spun line and improved the Process Capability Index using quality control tools

• As a Total Quality Management (TQM) coordinator, facilitated a number of small projects being handled by the workmen

ACADEMIC PROJECTS IN FINITE ELEMENT CODING

• Developed a Finite Element code in MATLAB to solve a 2D plane strain problem using constant strain triangular elements and obtained the deformed shape of the plate under study

• Developed constitutive solvers for hardening plasticity model using the Newton Raphson and Euler Forward algorithms in MATLAB and implemented it in a 2D plane strain problem with constant strain triangular finite elements

• Developed explicit and implicit finite element codes in MATLAB for analyzing the dynamic stresses due to wave propagation in a cantilever beam, which was modeled with beam elements
