Director of Global Operations

$250M global Cancer medical device manufacturer. Reporting to VP of Customer Service and directed all Service Parts, Equipment, Materials Management and Quality Operations on a global basis.

- Lead Logistics, Repair Depots, Quality, Distribution, Warehousing, and Operational staff to support Field Service, Engineering, MKT, Sales and PD. Fiscal budgeting, develop new systems, regulatory, and policy.

- Built a skilled and global team (20) from scratch, based in US, EU, and Hong Kong. Contributed significant revenue improvement in Service Sales contracts, Parts, upgrades, and distributor channels.

- Oversaw project mgt, installation and rigging, progress reports, visits to customers Doctors/Clinics/ Distributors to assess satisfaction, improvements, strategy, and continued revenue stream.

- Specialized in strategic, operational planning, new product introduction, supply chain, manufacturing, regulatory compliance, quality systems, customer field trials and Tier 1,2 and 3 call center service.

- Manage global parts return process and designed repair center layout, charter, troubleshoot process, RTV for rebuilds, obsolescence, refurbs, and end of life. Reduced overstock by $2M within 6 months.

- Moved Reverse Logistics and Repair center performance from a lag 60+ days and >$2M in quarantined inventory to 30 days average and <$750k and DOA rates at 2% or less of entire use volume.

- Worked with VP of Customer Service and Finance to re-engineer the Customer Service Contracts, Installation budgets for better margins, and reduced costs for revenue contribution of 42% or better.

- Integral in the supplier qualification process from design, prototype, upgrades, QMS, sustain engineering, financial viability, solution triggers, market conditions and compliance with FDA, ISO13485, 9001.

- Identified excessive cost of quality expenses and applied Six Sigma/Lean Process improvement methodology to realize $4M savings across multiple sites.

- Took parts delivery performance of high 80% up to 98% or better including < 8 hour emergency response of components. Provided a first time fill rate of 95% from the closest warehouse location in the field.

- Report out Metrics/KPIs in Operation and Executive Staff meetings to effectively present all budget and performance operational effectiveness. Includes inception of the Customer Service Department setup.

- Global materials management of $30M for service and manufacturing. Outsourced 3PL supplier and 22 International stocking locations saving $400k first year.

Varian Medical Systems, Las Vegas, NV (VAR) 2001 - 2005

Global Warehouse Manager

$2B global Cancer medical device manufacturer. Reported to VP of Service and Engineering and directed all Service Parts, Equipment, Materials Management and Quality Operations on a global basis.

- Analyze all returns (RTV), carrier lanes, transportation, customer delivery locations, inbound raw materials, and intercompany replenishment that aligns with business strategies and margins.

- Manage all negotiations, International trade compliance procedures on commercial invoices, Harmonization codes, VAT, Duty Drawback, and intra-country commerce laws. Prepared RFQ for bar code project.

- Develop metrics as a scorecard or dashboard to effectively present all budget and performance factors to the Executive Team such as parts consumption cost reduction.

Led global team of Parts Quality Engineers, Inventory and Materials management staff. Optimized the supply chain with the DMAIC approach that drove inventory days of supply from >100 to 65.
