Employment History
American Bar Association (Chicago, IL)
December 2000 - Present
Web Developer/Internet Application Specialist
As a member of the Web Development, Content Management and Project Development teams, I developed many prominent applications from start to finish. In this capacity I worked closely with staff from the various entities throughout the organization to bring their business processes to the web and in turn I have always received the highest praises for my effective inter-personal communication, problem-solving ability, dedication to team-building/mentoring and technical expertise. Some of the diverse applications that I have designed, developed and implemented include:
◊ ABA Web Store
I was the lead ABA developer of the award winning multi-million dollar eCommerce site. I built the stores search applications and catalog from top to bottom and worked with AGS to integrate the entire solution with payment processing and order fulfillment. After going taking the store into Production, I was the sole developer and maintainer of the ABA Web Store.
The ABA Web Store generates millions of dollars in revenue and was named one of the Top 500 Retail Web Sites and named one of the Top 50 Fastest growing e-retailers. It has also one the Top Honors as Best Association Website in WebAwards Competition.
◊ Staff Directory
The Staff Directory is a custom ColdFusion application I wrote that is completely integrated with the HR database and allows searches, new staff, directory and search exports, sorting on all fields and employee profiles.
◊ ABA Intranet
I have served as the lead ABA developer of the ABA Intranet. The Intranet project is written with the RedDot CMS and RedDot LiveServer. Personalization features include complete integration with the Staff Directory, categorized search results, My Profile and New Staff. The CMS solution allows for content contribution from various non-technical staff members.
The ABA switched technologies to Microsoft SharePoint and thus the Intranet became a SharePoint application to which I had a key role, again integrating the Staff Directory and creating several sub-applications such as the New Staff app that displays on the home page.
◊ Search Engine Administrator
Implemented and maintained the Verity K2 Enterprise search engine used for the 100,000+ page ABA Website, sub-search applications for over 30 Association Entities and the award winning ABA Web Store.
◊ JIOP (Judicial Intern Opportunity Program)
I designed and built a SharePoint solution that nearly automated every process of the JIOP program which allows students to apply online and submit their transcripts and other required documents and then be assigned to interviewers and ultimately to judges for interning.
◊ FCI Consultant’s Directory
In essence I was chiefly responsible for creating a new product of the ABA Web Store and Online Applications by the creation of the Forum on the Construction Industry Consultant’s Directory. This is a combination product that integrates the ABA Web Store, TIMSS and SharePoint to allow a subscription to an online application that can either expire or renew based on an ABA Web Store purchase.
◊ Discussion Forums and Blogs
I implemented and heavily customized the FuseTalk Forums for the ABA Discussion Boards solution. Custom features include complete integration with the ABA Membership system and limited forum access based on Section membership.
◊ Subscribers’ Only Membership Applications
I created several Subscribers’ Only applications for several Association entities including the Commission on Mental and Physical Disability Law, the Standing Committee on Legal AID and Indigent Defendants and the Division for Legal Services.
◊ WebSphere/LDAP Administrator
I implemented the first ABA eCommerce and Personalization solution which includes the IBM WebSphere Application and the LDAP membership repository.
◊ Printer-Friendly View
A dynamic ColdFusion application used through-out the 100,000 pages of the ABA that strips away certain page elements such as navigation to display a printer-friendly version of the site.
◊ Send to Friend
A dynamic ColdFusion application allows visitors to email web pages with accompanying comments to others while retaining critical ABA branding.
Maxim Group (Chicago, IL)
May 2000 – December 2000
Consultant
The sole client I worked with at the Maxim Group was the American Bar Association where I was a key member of the website redesign team.
In this role, I worked closely with over 30 entities to customize their respective websites, while retain the ABA website standards and branding.
Xerago (San Diego, CA)
April 2000 – May 2000
TeamSite Administrator
Developed and implemented custom TeamSite projects among several national clients. The customization included WorkFlow, Templates and custom GUIs to optimize and expedite concept to web publishing.
IBM (Austin, TX)
June 1998 – April 2000
Software Engineer
I developed the key Business 2 Business (B2B) application for international companies and organizations to partner with IBM through the IBM Solutions Partner programs.
I achieved this by creating a template system in Perl that allows for an unlimited number of translations (including both Mandarin and Cantonese) that is dynamically displayed based on the user’s location or browsers language preference.
