PRESENT PROFESSIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES

2012 - Date : Classified Specialist & Professor Gynae & Obst,Command Hospital, Alipore, Kolkata-700027 :

A Tertiary Care Hospital with Post Graduate Teaching & one of the busiest hospitals of the Armed Forces with 998 beds responsible for the whole of Eastern India.

• The present job entails the following responsibilities :

• To ensure constant care of all Gynae & Obst. Patients in Kolkata area & all over North East region.

• To ensure emergency requirements of seriously ill patients in ICU/Acute wards is met with.

• Ensure that the requirement of OPD patients entitled to draw treatment from defence services is constantly met with.

• Procurement for the medical store (Medicines, consumables, laboratory kits and reagents, surgical consumables etc)

• Ensuring 100% cases of painless labour through the use of combined spinal epidural anaesthesia in cases of Normal labour with electronic monitoring.

• Ensuring use of modern Gynaecological techniques like all operative endoscopic procedures in the field of Gynaecology & Obstetrics. e.g Hystero-Laparoscopy, Laparoscopic Surgeries, use of laser and Cryo.

• Keeping pace with Techniques & practice of matero-fetal medicine to ensure healthy babies & healthy mother.

• Treatment of Infertility with the latest techniques short of IVF.

• Teaching and practically training post graduate students (MS-Gynae & Obst-WBUHS).

• Patient counselling and interaction aimed at addressing queries, grievances and suggestions.

• Constant interaction with various specialists aimed at giving a comprehensive medical care.

RECENTLY HELD PROFESSIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES

A. 2009-2011 : HOD & Senior classified Specialist (Gynae & Obst) at INHS Nivarini at Chilka, Orissa. Officer-in charge of Family Clinic & Most of the times, Officiating Commanding Officer of the Naval Hospital.

• As HOD And Senior Gynaecologist, :

I was involved with the complete comprehensive Gynae & obst care of all Naval population, Coast guard, dependant families of Army personnel and a large number of defence civilians posted in the campus of Ins Chilka.

Propagation of small family norms within the Clientele and use of modern Gynae & Obst Techniques for effective and better care of the patients.

• As Officiating Commanding Officer and SEMO was involved in:-

ECHS, sanctioned by the Government of India on 30 Dec 2002, aims to fulfill the aspirations of ex-servicemen pensioners. The Scheme provides quality medical care within accessible reach of our 19 lakh pensioners and their 70 lakh dependants dispersed throughout the country. All ECHS patients of Orissa were looked after in this hospital.

• ECHS: Successful implementation of the Scheme, through the existing network of Service Hospitals and establishment of new Polyclinics in Military as well as Non-Military stations.

• Empanelment of private sector corporate hospitals in Orissa.

• Conducting Due Diligence of private sector corporate hospitals wishing to be empanelled under the scheme and ensuring the availability of standardized quality healthcare services all over Orissa. This required constant interaction with the private hospital management groups.

• Development of guidelines and SOPs and their dissemination to ensure impeccable implementation of the scheme.

• Critical assessment of the bills preferred by the empanelled hospitals for the treatment of the ex-servicemen. Was responsible for major efforts in rationalizing of the hospital bills from all over Orissa resulting in huge savings to the national exchequer.

• Redressal of long-outstanding grievances of many ex-servicemen and empanelled hospitals.

• Conducting day to day Professional & administrative chores required for running the hospital.

B. 2006-2008 : HOD and senior Specialist in Gynae & Obst at INHS Kalyani, Visakhapatnam. & many a times as Officiating Commanding Officer of the Hospital and SEMO.

• As Senior classified Gynaecologist of one of the busiest Command Hospitals ensured smooth running of the hospital’s OPD services. Organized the functioning of the out-patient department in such a way that waiting time for the patients was cut down and medicines were dispensed to them expeditiously.

• Was responsible for major face lift of the in-patient department in the hospital, aimed at greater clientele satisfaction.

C. 2003-2006 : Senior Classified specialist at Command Hospital, Kolkata, &

Professor, WBUHS.

Besides the normal specialized Gynae & Obst work was instrumental for the MCI accreditation for MS(Gynae & Obst) at Command Hospital Kolkata under WBUHS. Also was instrumental at setting up the ART Centre at CH(EC) short of IVF.

D.2000-2003 : HOD & Senior classified Specialist at INHS Jeevanti at Vasco-Da-Gama, Goa.

Besides working professionally was also Vice President of Gynae & Obst society of Panaji and conducted the Zonal meet of the FOGSI in 2002.

E. 1997-2000 : Senior classified specialist Gynae & Obst and associate professor of MUHS at INHS Asvini, Colaba, Mumbai.

• In addition to clinical duties the job entailed teaching in the Naval Hospital which is the biggest Command Hospital of Indian Navy. Involved in statutorily compulsory medical training of MD students of Maharastra University of Health sciences.

F. 1996-1997 : HOD & Senior Gynaecologist at Naval Hospital Pawai at Mumbai.

• Instrumental in adding the state of the art new hospital building for Gynae & Obst to the existing facility for the clientele of 15000 civilian Naval Dockyard Workers in their residential colony.

G. 1993-1996 : Classified Gynaecologist, 166 Military Hospital, Jammu.

• One of the most busy hospitals of Indian Army having a delivery rate of 1600 per year. Single-handedly managed the extremely heavy out-patient department and in patients of all the dependant families of J&K Area.

H. 1988-1992 : Graded specialist & Executive Officer INHS Jeevanti at Vasco-Da-Gama, Goa.

• Instrumental in establishing the new Delivery suite, Gynae & Obst OT and Gynae ICU, NICU in the new builing of the hospital. Job involved clinically looking after the Gynae. and IVF departments and management of the operation theatre administrative requirements.

• As exective Officer of the hospital was responsible for running the day to day activities of the hospital and personal welfare of the medical staff of the hospital. Also was in charge of the Disaster management programme.

I. 1987-1988. : Graded Specialist Gynae & Obst at Command Hospital, Calcutta

• Worked as a junior specialist in Gynae & Obst in the large hospital giving cover to whole of north East India.

J. 1986-1987. : Graded specialist Gynae & Obst at INHS Kalyani at Visakhapatnam.

Worked as the second specialist in the Dept of Gynae & Obst. Instrumental in creating a relief type Mural at the main hospital enterance.

K. 1983-1985: Posted at the Armed Forces Medical College, Pune.

• As a post-graduate trainee officer in gynae for MD Gynae & Obst under Pune University.

L. 1981 – 1982 : Principal Medical Officer, Naval Dockyard, Visakhapatnam.

• Was responsible for the medical care of 20,000 civilian Dockyard workers and 400 serving personnel including emergency care and disaster management in the highly specialized ship-repairing/ building Naval dockyard.

M. 1979 – 1980: Principal Medical Officer of INS Jarawa, Port Blair, A&N Islands.
