Resume:

Mark Sprinkle

Sprinkle and Company and Tradesman Supply Inc. November 1991 to December 2007 - Owner/President

Founded the business to capitalize on major projects that were available through former clients, and also provide an outlet for much needed contractor supplies, pioneering the idea of a ‘diversified construction company’. Realized that there was an advantageous margin (as high as 30%) available when compiling masonry bids, by acting as the buyer and supplier, thus eliminating the ‘middle-man’. Oversaw a office staff of 12 and a field staff of 50 and at times more than 100 trade skilled employs.

Duties included purchasing, estimating, billing, customer relations, project(s) management, submittals, CPM scheduling, job(s) planning, P/L, progress/quality reports and safety. Represented the company among multiple levels of industry including state and local authorities, “owners”, architects, engineers, inspectors, general contractors, OSHA / VOSHA officials and other sub-contractors.

Through previous contacts, quickly identified and landed several lucrative early masonry projects, including a $600,000 project that was floundering due to a lack of sub-contractors able and willing to fulfill the contract. Exceeded the client’s expectations by employing the correct combinations of manpower and equipment in a fashion that accelerated the entire project. On the retail side, developed and fostered strong relationships with both manufacturer’s reps, and also forged relationships directly with the manufacturers, thus enabling those companies to begin selling their products in the Chesapeake market for the first time, due to previous resistance from existing local suppliers.

• Saved a client nearly $200,000 in anticipated costs.

• Earned over 100 clients from conception, with steady growth to an annual high of more than $4 million in sales, rentals and construction.

• Attained new contracts by lowering supply cost margins and consistently besting the competition.

• Revolutionized the local construction and supply market.

January 1992 to May 1998 - Vice President

Promoted to help turn around the family business, which had been suffering from high accident rates, significant Worker’s Compensation claims, and decreased productivity. Established a company wide safety program, which included better negotiations with employees and insurers to lower the number of claims, and garner faster turn-around times, and instituted a “light” duty category, letting employees return to work sooner. Personally attended annual OSHA / VOSHA Certified training programs, and on regular intervals provided instruction and distribution of safety equipment. Additionally performed random inspections of all projects for compliance of company and OSHA / VOSHA policies and ensured all foremen received First Aid/CPR certification.
