Process Manager, 2006-6/2011

Report directly to Corporate (Chicago) Vice President of Process Management. Responsible for the improvement of programs and processes for 32 facilities, and for interfacing with other operations throughout the U.S., working jointly with each of the plants’ management teams.

Developed metrics tracking, reporting requirements, and process improvement opportunities by leading and/or facilitating Best Practice Teams.

Facilitate annual capital projects, and prioritized as funds became available.

Follow up and monitor production and equipment installations to achieve planned startup productivity curves and waste reduction targets.

Serve as resource for resolution of production problems, and maintain ongoing dialog and documentation of these issues with suppliers to ensure that problems are rectified and not repeated.

Operations Services Manager, 2004-2006

Responsible for Engineering, Maintenance (Machine and Electric Shops), Automation Department, Building Operations, and Central Stores. Managed 59 hourly and 8 salaried employees, while maintaining a $16.4 million budget.

Worked through a workforce reduction, that eliminated 20% of staff, without any interruption to service or decrease in operations.

Reduced costs through more efficient energy programs, contributing to over $1 million annual savings, inventory reduction and burn-offs by 30% over a 36-month period.

Served as initiator and Project Manager for a $1.4 million electrode boiler for further energy saving; received recognition from local power supplier on the accomplishment.

Lowered maintenance costs 20% by resolving root causes of repairs and increasing maintenance and system efficiencies.

Mechanical Project Engineer / Corporate Technical Coordinator, 1996-1999

Responsible for plant-wide engineering managed special projects, which included a major disassembly and shipment of nine presses from two divisions that were closed to other Company facilities for reinstallation. All were successful startup projects which came in on time and under budget.

RINGIER AMERICA INC. (Currently known as QuebecorWorld), Evans, GA 1990 – 1996

Manufacturing Manager / TQM Coordinator

Responsible for managing the prepress function with 20 hourly and 4 salaried employees, and the plant-wide coordination of Total Quality Management education and training Continuous Improvement process and project teams.

Engineering and Maintenance Manager

Overall management of Engineering, Maintenance, and Plant Support Operations, ensuring adherence to EPA, City and State regulations. Led 42 employees, and administered a $7.5 million operating budget.

Coordinated capital budget planning, TQM, and follow up requirements for federal and state environmental regulations.

Managed a 200,000 sq. ft. plant expansion, including the purchase, installation and startup of the plant’s first wide-web press and associated support areas at a cost of $100 million.

Managed numerous process improvement projects, with ongoing involvement in equipment modifications to support production.

Personally handled sensitive problems around disaster recovery and customer complaints.

QUEBECOR PRINTING, Dickson, TN 1985 – 1990

Engineering and Maintenance Manager

Managed Engineering, Maintenance and Plant Support, including EPA, City and State regulations, with a staff of 32 employees and an annual operating budget of $5 million.

Functioned as Project Manager of major initiatives, such as a 20,000 sq. ft. building expansion and the installation of an offset press, including the installation of two wide-web gravure presses and expansion of a third, including auxiliary support equipment.

Managed daily operation and planning of the plant’s utilities (boilers, air compressors, etc.), solvent recovery system, waste treatment, and ink building.

W.F. HALL COMPANY, Evans, GA 1981 – 1985

Senior Project Engineer / Engineering Supervisor

Responsible for all projects associated with the plant operation and installation/start-up of major production equipment. Worked closely with the Engineering Manager on various aspects of the building construction.
