Senior Project – Medtrainer- Built a system that uses a pump and synthetic tubing to simulate in-vivo flow in an atherosclerotic artery to simulate an endarterectomy specifically the carotid artery. Designed and tested pump and circulation system with a flowmeter and a pressure gauge to make quantifiable measurements pre and post practice surgical procedure to ensure proper surgical method. Created and tested experimental set-ups with an instron machine to characterize and assess functional performance of possible arterial stenosis material, synthetic tubing (artery), and synthetic invivo environment to match properties of the carotid artery and surrounding tissue. Gained experience in technical writing and GMP standards with proposals, progress reports, SOP’s, final reports, FDA research, and technical presentations to a large audience.
