June 09, - Dec 11’
At this job is where I can say I really advanced my education in the oilfield industry. I held the position of a derrick man but like everyone else started out as a floor hand. Here I performed an abundance of well servicing. It mainly was in the production/completion side. We performed a lot of pump changes, tubing jobs, rod/ tubing/ casing fishing jobs, Installed Rita and PC pumps, TAC jobs, Packer jobs, spot acid jobs, pump cement jobs, etc. Here we also completed wells, drilling plugs and running in hole with the production part of the well. My operator wasn’t so strong in speaking English or writing, so I had to step up as a derrick man and take on a little more responsibility than a usual derrick man. I took care of all the tally paperwork, job tickets, and job safety analysis. I translated between the lease operator and my operator. By the end of the day it was my duty to make sure that the job was done right and we had good pump action or production, due to the lack of English skills my operator held.
Dale Meyer Trucking Company
Odessa, TX 79762
Nov 08’ – June 09’
Dale Meyer Trucking is well known in the rig moving business. While I was here I held a position as a crane rigger. This position was in charge of communicating with the crane operator and driller to make sure the drilling rig was being rigged up or down properly and safely. My job duties were to climb on the derrick/ equipment, to tie on my crane, to break them down and load them onto the road trucks. When the road trucks had all the equipment on the next location we simply rigged the drilling rig back up. Here I held the responsibility of maintaining a company vehicle which I followed the crane with.

Ramco Roustabout

This is where I learned the basics of the oilfield. Here I was a roustabout hand where I performed oilfield construction and maintenance. We were pretty steady with a well-known company where we mainly built gas/ oil batteries. We also took care of laying down the flow lines and tying them in from the pumping unit to the battery. I also did a variety of oil spill clean ups, and serviced a lot of packings to the stuffing boxes to the pumping units.
