Objective: Online English Teacher

Qualifications:

Passion in teaching English to non-English speaking students: Koreans, Japanese and Chinese. I incorporate proper pronunciation while the student speaks in a free talk class with me. When I let the student write, I also correct their sentences without being too technical because sometimes students get bored that way.

I would say that I use the practical, day to day kind of English with my students. I also encourage my students to look for news articles that we will discuss the next class. The students have the liberty to choose either to talk about: politics, entertainment, science, economy, music, movies as well as the environment.

Experience: Have been teaching English online in an office setting as well as a home based online teacher for 7 years, April 2004 to March 2012. Teach proper American English pronunciation to non- English speaking students. During the class, I also incorporate vocabulary during our discussion, this in turn enables the student to speak more and at the same time build vocabulary and self-confidence too.

As for Koreans, I was able to help them prepare for their college or university entrance exam using OPIC.

With the Chinese, most of them I helped them with their refresher IELTS exam preparation. Most often times I have free talk with my Chinese students discussing things that are of interest to them.

As for the Japanese students that I had, some of them would like to use their own textbooks and put necessary corrections as we go, which they review after the class. Some Japanese students I taught would prefer free talk because that way they do not feel restricted to textbooks only.

I did have Italian university students who were very enthusiastic during free talk classes they had with me.

Likes: Essay writing; contributing in blogs; sharing ideas with others in discussion sites. Cooking Chinese dishes as well as some Philippine dishes as well as vegetarian dishes. I also love making different sandwiches as well as trying new and simple recipes. I enjoy going to DIY shops, because in those places I get different ideas mostly about home improvement.
