General Machine Operator May 2011 to Current
Mead Johnson Zeeland,MI – I have many responsibilities at Mead Johnson. My top priority is to send out as much product as efficiently and as clean and orderly as humanly possible. Our product goes out to thousands of children worldwide so mistakes are not an option. Our paperwork has to be in perfect order without error. I must set up our machines quickly and accordingly based on what product we are running. When we change product we must clean out our machines free from all old product. This involves a lot of “clean room” work where everything must be sanitized and I have to gown up appropriately with gloves, booties, a lab jacket, a mask and proper eye wear. Cleanliness is of upmost importance and that cant be stressed enough. Once we strip down the machines and then strip down the parts from the machines I then dump all of the small parts into chemicals for washing. This again requires me to change for proper and safe handling of the chemicals. There is a lot to remember and a lot to do within the time given. Some of our cleanings may take a full 12 hours to finish. Good math skills are a must for chemical mixing and to ensure the paperwork is filled properly. We work 12 hour days and sometimes up to 80 hours a week.

I have always had strong computer skills but have never really gotten into web designing too much. A friend asked me to build him one website. The word got out and before I knew it I had 15 web sites I had built and was maintaining. I decided to do this for a living. Which was great but after you have 40 websites to manage it just got to be too much for me to handle alone. I still manage many of the websites but am no longer building new sites. But this just shows how well I can pick something new up with little to no experience and run with it.
