Grew through progressive promotions to manage all finishing operations for this leading producer of specialty packaging for a wide range of consumer products. Review all structural designs for manufacturing capabilities and work with estimating to establish costs. Work with Production Department approving all layouts for achieving optimal machine performance. Ensure strict adherence to all company polices. Monitor daily work activity through the use of a progressive management style, documenting variance to standard, determining root cause, and developing action plan to prevent reoccurrence.

Accomplishments include

Management

• Manage the operations Die Cutting, Coating, Stamping, and Folding & Gluing. Responsible for a staff of 75 employees over two shifts, including two shift supervisors.

• Managed the operations of Shipping & Receiving, Material Handling, Sheeting, Inventory Control and Warehouse. Operations.

• In on-going role, coordinate new product development projects, obtain all costs and prepare presentation for Executive Management and Sales. Follow through with research and development tests to ensure customer expectations are met.

• Created the initial drawings for the expansion into a new 90,000 square foot facility, including detailing space requirements for multiple departments, along with workflow and machine placements within each.

• Researched and recommended new equipment which increased department capabilities and provided the company with specialized techniques that led to over $3 million in new sales.

• Initiated the concept and created a material handling department to coordinate the movement of materials throughout all manufacturing departments. Significantly reduced downtime and increased efficiencies.

Processes and Procedures

• Created the Company’s first Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for the manufacture of folding cartons that fully meets all client requirements for the pharmaceutical markets.

• Created all departmental work instructions during the implementation of the Company’s successful ISO 9000 and 9001 initiatives.

• Teamed with the Director of Quality to help implement SOPs and Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMPs) throughout entire plant.

• Coordinating meetings with leading experts on Lean Manufacturing concepts and took company through the Value Stream Mapping process to help improve workflow through plant and reduce inventory while increasing efficiencies.

Safety

• Member of the Safety Committee for over 15 years. Chaired meetings during transitional periods. Created evacuation plan and departmental safety inspection documents. Train employees annually.

Scheduling

• Determined the best use of all manufacturing equipment through the creation of detailed manufacturing schedule for all cost centers. Determined machine staffing requirements for each along with capacity issues and overtime requirements in order to meet customer requirements.

• Maintained entire master scheduling board and chaired daily Production meeting updating Planners and Customer Service with job status and potential conflicts.

• When position started schedule requirements were for Pressroom operations only, after less than six months in position, provided schedules for all manufacturing processes. (Printing, Plating, Sheeting, Coating, Stamping, Die Cutting, Stripping and Bindery)

• Studied and reframed capacity issues in Scheduling planning daily work schedules that improved workflow by 20%.

Shipping and Receiving

• Created innovative means of cycle counting of raw materials inventory which resolved a major effort rate problem and reduced costs. Trained all employees on use of system.

• Reduced freight cost by over 25% by negotiating the most cost effective shipping methods.

TECHNICAL SKILLS

• Manage operations on all finishing equipment, Bobst-103ER blanking press, Bobst 142CER large format blanking press, Bobst 102-BMA stamping press, Bobst 103 E, 40" Sakuria UV coater, Meihle roller coater, 56" EZ Press pre-make ready press, 40" EZ Press pre-make ready press, 7 different folding gluing machine, including the newest a 2004 Heidelberg Diana Pro-114 high speed gluer, and a Koleman window machine.

• Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, Power Point.

• Experienced Cimex Software user. Able to navigate the program’s complex die making and structural design components.

• Create counters and support tooling through Die works on a Gerber Profile routing machine.
