Experience:
SuperPower Inc.
Sr. Manufacturing Engineer, high temperature super conducting wire manufacturing
Developed manufacturing process and redesign of $2.2M MOCVD prototype equipment, 3 months before schedule and 71% under budget.
Collaborated with research scientists and lead a team of technicians to achieve the transfer of the YCBO process (super conducting ceramic on Hastelloy substrate) from research and development to manufacturability.
Developed the first ever mathematical model of the YCBO process running in a MOCVD system allowing for predictive super conducting current capacity and yield increases of 40%.
Developed and implemented online process tool state logging, work in progress, and inventory control.
XRD optimization for crystal growth axis detection.
General optimization of production equipment, process, and methods.
Qimonda, Richmond, Virginia
Equipment Engineer, Thin Films 200mm/300mm Fab
Start-up and de-commission of 300mm and 200mm Fabs, Thin Films.
Procurement $150 million of capital equipment
Management and implementation of the procurement, installation, maintenance cycle and optimization of State-of-the-art semiconductor manufacturing equipment.
Managed team of 16 technicians through hands-on mentoring for day to day maintenance.
Managed the budget ($4.6M) and operational capabilities of Thin Films capital equipment.
• Optimized HDP (high density plasma) tool set, increasing product yield
by 2%
• Upgrade the HDP C2 tool sets to TA configuration for 80 nanometer research and development.
• Reduced recovery time by 30% through the development of a new CVD (chemical vapor deposition) film model for easier process tweaking and maintenance setup.
• Statistical analysis of equipment performance as a tool for predictive maintenance scheduling and general operating metrics resulting in a 95% hit rate and a 17% increase in tool uptime.
Continuous parts management programs reduced consumable costs by 20% and non-consumables by 35%.
Thin Film’s area CIMCO (Factory Automation Specialist) in 200mm and 300mm fab, responsible for the maintenance and implementation of capital equipment hardware and software connectivity.
Provide automated software solutions to Thin Films area operations, these solutions include:
• Remote sensor monitoring of PVD esc, through the use of Moore Industries PLC and connection to SiAutomation.
• Remote MFC and temperature monitoring through Moore Industries PLC and SiAutomation on GATZxx, HDPZxx, TUGZxx tools.
• Installed HSMS hardware/software upgrades on Films 200mm equipment set.
• EMS300, a visual view of the 300mm factory floor, with the same functionality as the 200mm EMS application, this was done for the whole 300mm fab. The Films view also includes connections with the SiAutomation data base to provide at a glance the complete films area wafer count and KW hour triggers, also incorporated into this is predictive modeling on PM triggers, and WIP movement through Film area stages.
• User interfacing of SAP, Oracle and Microsoft SQL databases via client and web based applications.
• GUI interface(IC FILMS) to tool supplied data such as wafer counts, KW hours, kit life and predictive triggering for PM purposes. With predictive maintenance functions for both 200mm and 300mm factories.
• Automated data collection from the data warehouse to support automated performance tracking.
• Web based applications such as the employee survey and analysis.
• Created the Process Interrupt (PIR) data base for Thin Films.
