Starting in 2006 as Speech Language Pathologist, have taken numerous management, oversight, and training responsibilities through additional positions including:
o Director of Therapeutic Services (Feb 2012 to Present)
o Manager/Team Coordinator, SPED Therapists (July 2011 to Feb 2012)
o Department Head/Lead Speech Language Pathologist (July 2010 to July 2011)
Management responsibilities include:
• Develop caseload assignments and coordinate day-to-day work of 20–25 related service providers to ensure proper balance of workloads, including rapid-response support for staff to meet needs of over 250 students and their parents
• Directly hire, manage, and evaluate related service providers, including overseeing performance management
• Supervise Clinical Fellows to ensure ASHA accreditation
• Coordinate with five universities and oversee graduate student internship program
Therapeutic Intervention responsibilities include:
• Evaluation and treatment of students, ages 3-22, in group and individual settings to increase functional communication, feeding skills, oral motor strength, augmentative communication, and pragmatics
• Extensive experience treating students with multiple development disabilities, including Autism, intellectual disabilities, and other health impairments
• Establish and maintain communication systems, develop IEP goals, and provide classroom supports
• Development, implementation, and monitoring of individualized feeding programs
• Ensure implementation of positive behavior interventions and supports throughout the academic setting
• Provide classroom support to promote communication in a functional life skills program within the classroom, community, and through a job-sampling program
Training and Liaison responsibilities include:
• Develop and implement new instructional approaches such as co-teaching model and small group instruction to ensure comprehensive educational model
• Develop and deliver a variety of trainings to stakeholders, such as training to parents and families on communications systems and methods, and training staff/teachers on new operation procedures and district regulations
• Facilitate communications with students’ families regarding day-to-day issues, new communications tools, and ensuring parents’ concerns are being met in school environment
Monitoring and Evaluation responsibilities include:
• Develop and implement an extensive staff evaluation matrix based on best practices from local jurisdictions tailored to school’s needs and operations procedures
• Conduct biannual staff evaluations and reviews
• Assist in grant-writing and program development efforts
• Oversee and monitor allocation of grant funds to ensure student, and staff development needs are met
• Created and currently oversee committee of therapists working to develop protocols for documenting needs and procedures of children with specific feeding and swallowing requirements
• Monitor adult day programs and ensure mandated services are received
Compliance and Oversight responsibilities include:
• Staying informed of new federal and district regulations, delineating updates to staff and other stakeholders, and revising relevant protocols based on new regulations
• Manage and sign off on monthly service trackers to ensure compliance with state and federal- guidelines, including Medicaid regulations and guidelines
• Collaborate with 5 area school districts and other allied health professionals served by school to certify fulfillment of respective local and state regulations
Speech Language Pathology Intern/Staff SLP, Stroke Comeback Center, Sept 2005 – December 2005; Summer 2006
Responsibilities included:
• Providing ongoing care to patients recovering from stroke and traumatic brain injuries
• Evaluation and treatment of patients in group and individual settings to increase problem solving skills, topic discussions maintenance, oral motor strength, augmentative communication, and pragmatics
• Significant experience working with individuals with acquired apraxia, dysarthria, fluent and non-fluent aphasia, right hemisphere damage and executive functioning deficits
