Sgt. - Prairie Correctional facility

Supervise the largest living and segregation units in PCF. Numbers supervised averaged 600 Offenders and 20 staff. Supervise the only special needs housing unit, creating and implementing special needs programs. Control the living environment. Organize job placement, and evaluation for inmate and CO-workers. Ensure all policies in units and segregation are strictly adhered to. Train staff, do evaluations, payroll, schedule staff leaves. Organize inmate intakes and transfers in and out of the facility. Maintain an offender incompatibility list, ensuring that placement is in accordance with this list. Conduct informal hearings, handle legal correspondence. Investigate disciplinary reports. Assist with a variety of Special investigations, on staff and offenders. Work closely with INS and the US Marshals. Use of computers. Strong communication skills both written and verbal. Effective negotiating and problem solving skills. Train staff on emergency and tactical procedures, implement when needed.
