2008-2011: Process and Manufacturing Engineer. Composite Sealing Center (CSC) Dana Corporation. manufacturer of automotive engine sealing components reporting directly to the Plant Engineer.

Responsibilities:

• Responsible for machine start-ups and/or mold changes.

• Ensure machines and robots are running at optimum efficiency

• Troubleshoot machines, molds and material problems.

• Responsible for the accurate completion of Process Verification, Tool reports, and work orders as required.

• Responsible for all FMEA, Process Flow charts, Value Stream mapping with, existing and future state analysis.

• Responsible for maintaining the appearance of all Manufacturing Cells 5S requirements.

• Responsible for corrective actions as required, meeting production and scrap plant goals.

• Responsible for the establishment and modification of processing parameters on presses.

• Responsible for all tools to run proper cycle time.

• Responsible for creating continuous improvement (ideas and suggestions)

• Responsible to follow all OSHA and safety rules and regulations.

All Process Engineering requirements for manufacturing cells. KPI’s (Key Product Indicators) are presented to management each morning explaining scrap and efficiency’s from past 24 hours. Responsible for all manufacturing molds within my core group. These included primarily Chrysler and Ford programs. Responsible for all processing issues, capability studies, mold modification and material trials.

Participated in DOS (Dana Operating Systems), 5S and MBF (Manage By Fact) programs suited to address the manufacturing and engineering issues of the plant.

2004-2008: Director of Business and Product Development, Dana NA Fuel Cell Support Center. (NAFCSC) reporting directly to General Manager.

Responsibilities:

All product design, marketing, customer and business development for the NA FCSC. Worked with established Dana FCSC’s globally located in Germany, Canada and Japan. Develop and establish sales contracts with customers for the NAFCSC by working with equipment and material suppliers to develop components such as bipolar manifold plates and seals. Shared in the development and patenting of proprietary Fuel Cell components used in the automotive, residential and remote power markets.

1998-2004: Director of North American Fuel Cell Support Center, reporting directly to General Manager

Responsibilities:

To establish sales and manufacturing capabilities for the development and delivery of Fuel Cell component products in North America. Identify emerging global companies and potential customers involved in the development of Fuel Cells. Establish our marketing presents as a component supplier to these companies without presenting the threat to be a competitor. These components and others identified from the previous position of Advance Technology Director were part of a manufacturing cell within the center. Responsible for 30 employees, annual budgets and sales forecasting. Reported directly to General Manager, Plumley Sealing Div. Dana Corp.

1995-1998: Director of Advance Technology- reporting directly to General Manager, Plumley Sealing Division, Dana Corp.

Responsibilities:

To identify and evaluate future developing technologies that presents themselves as a future threat or product opportunity. These advanced technologies we not in the next 10 year sales plan but rather 20 years out. Included in this position was to evaluate existing and far future manufacturing synergies of our company to design, develop and mass produce these types of automotive products for the Victor/Reinz and Plumley Div. sealing group of Dana. They included but were not limited to Electric, Solar or Fuel Cell powered vehicles but rather all markets including Residential, Stationary and Mobile power globally. To present these technologies to Dana Corporate management globally.

1990-1995: Manufacturing Process Engineer- (SPC) Sealing Products Center. Reporting directly to Plant Manager, (SPC) Plumley Companies.

Responsibilities: Injection molded rubber seals

• Responsible for production rubber injection molding processes and any product quality issues. Including metal and plastic bonding to rubber.

• Coordinate and schedule all molding trials and existing sample runs.

• Work with mold makers on design of new molds and modification to used molds.(Refurbishing molds)

• Provide manufacturing input to all new programs

• Provide manufacturing information and be part of quote team.

• Run material evaluation trials for internal and external use.

• Participate in Kaizen teams monthly.

• Coordinate 5S efforts in manufacturing cells.

• Report out weekly efficiencies as well as scrap.

• Establish a recycling program plant wide. Including rubber, metals, plastics, cardboard, material purges etc.

Performed special R&D material evaluations to determine material flow characteristics of various rubber materials. Both organic and inorganic rubbers. EPDM, FKM, Nitrile, silicone, vamac, etc.

1987-1990: Chief Design Engineer- Staffed with Product Engineers.

Responsibilities: Instrumental in evaluating and selecting first ever CAD system (CADAM) for Plumley in 1988 for development of formed hose mandrel design, gasket development and tooling development.

Customer product responsibilities included sealing technologies for GM, Ford, Chrysler, Jaguar, Cummins Engine and Navistar. Including GM’s Northstar engines and Jaguars of Europe AJ26 programs. Direct report to V.P. Sale/Technology, Plumley Companies.

1983-1987: Product Design Engineer-

Responsibilities: Established development and design capabilities for sealing automotive systems and formed automotive hose designs. Including assisting in material selections and product validation methods. Direct design responsibilities for the following customers:

• Ford Motor Co.

• General Motors

• Chrysler

• Jaguar Motors of Europe

• Cummins Engine

• Navistar Engine

Introduced first plastic carrier gasket systems to Ford Motor Co and General Motors. Direct report to VP of Operations, Plumley Companies.
