QUALIFICATIONS
Kristin was a surgical veterinary technician and receptionist for two years. Her skills included extensive knowledge of canine, feline, pocket pet, exotic and avian healthcare. She also has knowledge of external and internal parasites, general veterinary medicine, restraint tactics, laboratory testing, I.V. catheter placement, phlebotomy, cephalic, accessory, medial saphenous, and jugular venipuncture, radiograph positioning techniques, radiograph processing , preparing and administering vaccines, microchipping, pharmacology, anesthesia monitoring, preventative topical treatments, various prescription diets, cleaning instruments, making and autoclaving surgical packs, preparing for and assisting in surgeries, assisting in post-op recovery, gathering accurate patient history, assisting in critical care situations and procedures, administering subcutaneous and intravenous fluids, preparing and assisting during euthanasia and post-mortem, and much more. She is also proficient in medical databases Avimark, ClientTrax, and Kodak SoftDent.
Kristin currently instructs Dog and Cat First Aid courses for The American Red Cross which teaches pet owners about the techniques that can be applied in critical care and emergency situations as well as reviewing general healthcare, common diseases and ailments, and answering any questions that a pet owner may pose.
