Jul 2010 to Aug 2011: Product Dev. and Mixing manager based in Blackheath, Cape Town, South Africa

- Employed to head up a pending joint venture with another international food company which eventually did not materialize due to economic and risk aspects for the other company investing in South Africa.

- Ran their mixing plant with a small staff complement of eight permanent and several seasonal staff.

- Development of new powder convenience products for the food industry.

- Assisting other departments to optimize product quality.

Feb 2003 to May 2010: Plant manager / Production manager at Moir’s based in Cape Town, South Africa

- Responsible for all production in the factory, from receiving of raw and packaging material, through mixing (compounding), to packing and finally to dispatching.

- Responsible for staff management of up to 220 staff (seasonal).

- Managing of cost within the above functions.

- Ensuring compliance to all safety regulations and chairing of the safety committee meetings.

Jun. 1995 to Apr. 1996: Compounding manager at Link Laboratories, East Rand, South Africa

- This company did contract packaging for clients with over 1000 different products manufactured and packaged under contract, from health care to industrial products. I managed their compounding division; mixing of product to strict recipe requirements.

- A staff complement of sixteen reported to me.

Aug. 1994 to May 1995: General Manager of Newsa Road Products (Pty) Ltd, Pretoria, South Africa

- This was a start – up company that was to supply the owner’s other companies with raw materials for the road construction industry.

- I was tasked with setting up the company from scratch, including staffing structure, all documentation, structural requirements, a working laboratory, etc.

- I initiated the process of attaining ISO 9000 accreditation..

- Part of my function was to liaise with international companies who invested heavily in the site.

- This was a newly started company. I managed their sales team, liaised with insurance companies for contracts, dealt with Broker Consultants and assisted with the general running of the company.

- Auditing “Coke” factories throughout South Africa and Namibia for the Coco- Cola head office and assisting factories experiencing quality problems to resolve them.
