The Sioux City Art Center is equally funded by both the City of Sioux City and the Art Center Association of Sioux City. The City of Sioux City pays salaries, general building maintenance and utilities, while the Art Center Association raises money through memberships, class fees, and fundraising events to fund all exhibitions and educational programming at the Art Center. Funds are also received from gifts of major benefactors and various grants including the Iowa Art Council.
• Responsible for all daily receipts and disbursements of the Sioux City Art Center Association.
• Produce monthly general ledgers for three separate accounts: the general operating account which pays the majority of invoices for the art center; the restricted account which pays specific expenses with grant money or donations for a specific purpose; and the Artsplash account which is the Art Center’s annual art festival on the river. Each of these accounts also has savings accounts.
• Generate statements of activity and balance sheets on each account that are
presented monthly to the Art Center Board of Directors.
• Spreadsheets for these accounts are generated in both Excel and QuickBooks Pro as suggested by auditors.
• Assist Art Center director with developing annual budgets, both the City of Sioux City and the Art Center Association of Sioux City.
• Direct the payroll for both City and Association employees.
• Insure timely payment of quarterly payroll taxes.
• Calculate annual W2s and 1099s for the Association.
• Coordinate with auditors on annual audit of Association’s funds.
• Maintain accurate accounting on a variety of special projects and fundraising.
