SUNTRON Corporation – Circuit Board Assembly Company. Manchester, NH

Suntron assembles and tests SMT and through-hole printed circuit boards. I used meters, oscilloscopes, and microscopes to test, troubleshoot to the component level, calibrate, and document test results on analog and digital circuit boards, power supplies, and sensors. The boards used op amps, programmable logic, 8 to 32 bit microprocessors, Ethernet, CAN bus, USB, serial controllers, LCD controllers, and discrete components. (This was my last temporary position in NH.)

AIRMAR Technology Corporation – Ultrasonic Transducer Manufacturer. Milford, NH

Used function generators, digital oscilloscopes, and multimeters to perform final test and packing of marine sensors for depth, speed, and temperature. (This was a temporary position for 6 months.)

1999 - 2005 NETS Electronics Inc. – POS Equipment Installation and Service. Bedford, NH

Field Service Engineer for all of VT, NH, and northeastern MA. Installed and serviced POS equipment including servers, computers, wired and wireless networks, cash registers, cash drawers, keyboards, touch screens, signature and PIN pads, displays, hand scanners, scanner/scales, time clocks, check and credit card readers, UPSs, receipt printers, and page printers (laser, thermal, ink jet, and impact). I calibrated grocery scales (was licensed in VT and NH). I was rotated on-call nights and weekends. Repair was done on-site when appropriate. Our clients were small, medium, and large supermarket and discount store chains based in New England.

1995 - 1999 Self Employed

Built, installed, maintained, and upgraded PCs, added printers, modems, CD drives, and other hardware. Installed, maintained, and provided telephone support for Windows, dial-up Internet support, and other software. Fixed Windows software problems and crashes. Created several Windows programs using Visual C++, Borland C++, and Installshield. Created and maintained an artist’s portfolio web site with about 150 HTML pages. Created a web site for a PC board fabrication company. Repaired professional electronic music equipment (mostly keyboards and audio).

1989 - 1994 Andover Controls – Manufacturer of Building Control Systems. Andover, MA

Used SUN UNIX workstations and IBM PCs to spec, design, review, code, and test control software (firmware) for building control systems in conformance with ISO-9000 standards. These systems contained a 68000 or 6303 microprocessor, supported an Ethernet network, and an interpreted language and used analog and digital input and output circuits to monitor and control heating, cooling, lighting, and door access within a building. Development tools used included Tektronix logic analyzer, analog and digital oscilloscopes, PVCS, INTROL and Microtek cross compilers. Languages used were 68000 and 6303 assembly language, and C.

1986 - 1988 Grant Technology – Manufacturer of DEC Compatible Peripherals. Chelmsford, MA

Learned IBM PC hardware and software architecture and maintenance. Design, code, and test control software (firmware) for DEC compatible peripherals. Used IBM PCs, Micro VAX II and PDP-11/73 systems to develop and test assembly language for TMS32020, 68000, and PDP-11. Designed firmware for an enhanced DEC DHV11 (8 line DMA RS232 interface) using a TMS32020 CPU and a low-cost DEC DHV11 using a 68000 CPU. Designed the diagnostic for a VME bus 8 line serial interface. Used oscilloscopes and In-Circuit-Emulators.

1983 - 1986 Accutest Corporation – Manufacturer of Automatic Test Equipment. Chelmsford, MA

Designed, maintained, and enhanced control software for their automatic analog and digital component tester products. Used RSX-11M and VAX systems to develop in PDP-11 assembly language, Pascal, and C. Worked on hardware interface, user interface, and graphics display option. I was the system manager of the multi-user engineering computer system.

1981 - 1983 GCA Corporation – Manufacturer of Wafer Processing Equipment. Bedford, MA

Maintained and enhanced the user interface and hardware control program for their wafer stepping product. Used RSX-11M and VMS to develop PDP-11 assembly language and FORTRAN. Was responsible for converting their product to use a PDP-11/23 PLUS computer and RSX11-M PLUS operating system.

1979 - 1981 Lockheed Sanders Inc. (now BAE Systems) – Government Contractor. Nashua, NH

Designed and developed utility programs, user interface software, and hardware control software, in PDP-11 and 68000 assembly language, FORTRAN, and COBOL, on PDP-11, DEC-20, VAX, PDP-10, and IBM 370 systems. Had secret security clearance.

1973 - 1979 Digital Equipment Corporation – Manufacturer of Computer Systems. Maynard, MA

My positions were Systems Test Technician, Group Leader, and Manufacturing Technician. Designed on-line terminal interface diagnostic for the RSX11-M operating system. Did board level and component level troubleshooting and repair using meters and oscilloscopes.
