OptiMark, Inc. 06/1999 – 02/2002 System Architect / Project Lead - Co-Designed and Implemented the NASDAQ ‘SuperMontage’ trading system. As a member of an 8 person design team served as project lead for the Database Management and Query Services portion of the System. Data Query Services (DQS) provides rapid query access to a centralized SQL repository of quote, order and market participant position data, collected from the NASDAQ SelectNet, SOES, Super-SOES and SuperMontage trading systems. Coded in Native mode ‘C’, the DQS design provides the NASDAQ with a modular, highly scalable system for data collection, data dissemination, and market analysis. Implementation of the SuperMontageSM system moved the NASDAQ to their Next Generation Market Platform, providing more transparency, more access to liquidity and a more stable trading environment for their buyers and sellers.
Coffee, Sugar & Cocoa Exchange / N.Y. Board of Trade 10/1996 - 06/1999 Senior System Analyst / Project Lead – Co-Designed, and Implemented the New York Board of Trade Co-Processing System. In July of 1998, the Coffee, Sugar & Cocoa Exchange merged with the New York Cotton Exchange and Cantor Fitzgerald Financial. The Co-Processing project integrated trades flow processing, and communications protocols used by the three exchanges, combined trade clearing, accounting and reporting functions, and streamlined the program code base, trading and back-office processes. The system consolidation resulted in more efficient trades-flow processing for the newly formed commodities exchange and eliminated redundant processing and service costs.
Designed, Developed, and Implemented a System for Price Quote Reporting (SPQR). SPQR Captures and disseminates commodities trading, pricing and quote information. External market data is collected via communications lines from Reuters, Knight-Ridder, and Bridge-Data, and displayed on overhead monitors on the trading floor. Trade information gathered from ring-reporters using hand-held units and data entry terminals, is validated, and disseminated to display devices on the trading floor as well as to outside vendors, and to the world via the Ticker. SPQR’s flexible modular design allowed the exchange to retain much of its legacy TAL and COBOL database processing, while integrating legacy X.25 protocols with TCP/IP in its communications infrastructure. The resulting communications infrastructure enhancements provided the exchange with the flexibility to continuously improve reporting communications to keep pace with the speed of business and technology.
