Selected Accomplishments
Transformed chaos to solid operational and fiscal systems for startups BIOTA and UniquePak. No accounting, business planning, sales organization, inventory control, or accountability to shareholders existed. Used QuickBooks to establish accounting and inventory control. Moved from handwritten records to up-to-date operating and accounting systems. Significant sales made to large customers and cash flow improved significantly.
Restructured Sara Lee Branded Apparel - Europe, reduced COGS 25% and cycle time 50%. Sales were stagnant due to competition from Asian-sourced products. Closed two high cost U.K. facilities and moved production to Tunisia. Merged five Tunisian plants to two. Eliminated redundant manufacturing across five brands and transformed purchasing into one cohesive central organization. Success enabled sale of division.
Turned around SAP implementation within 48 hours for Earthgrains. Sales and Distribution modules were configured w/o divisional input. Lost ability to process customer orders and ship perishable product for two weeks. Organized work around teams and created task force to re-configure installation. Issues resolved within one month. System became company standard and supported 50% division profit growth next year. Considered a model for “how it should be done.”
Instituted TQM processes for Anheuser-Busch improving production by 15% and reducing costs by 20%. Subsidiary struggling with profitability and faced disqualification for taste issues. Used TQM techniques to identify and fix taste problem. Created problem solving and re-engineering teams driving positive changes. Division became profitability leader in company. Tasked with spreading TQM throughout the company.

President / COO, UniquePak, Inc., 2007 – 2008 and President / COO, BIOTA Brands of America, Inc., 2005 - 2006. Consumer product startups. Installed administrative procedures and controls, professional accounting, business budgeting and planning, inventory management, a sales organization, and office automation to both of these entrepreneurial companies Directed staff of up to nine and budgets of $1M.
VP-Operations, Sara Lee Branded Apparel-Europe, 2003 - 2005. Ran the entire Supply Chain, from Purchasing and Outsourcing, through Manufacturing, to Warehousing and Distribution for this $1B intimate apparel company based in Paris, France. Managed 18 factories and 15 distribution centers, employing 12,000 on three continents.
Division President, Sara Lee Refrigerated Dough Products, 2001 - 2003. Held full P&L for both US and French refrigerated dough divisions of Sara Lee Bakery Group, with total sales of $350M.
EVP, Operations and Administration, Earthgrains Company, 1996 - 2001. Installed Total Quality methodologies while significantly improving operating efficiencies and lowering costs.
Group VP, Quality, Technology, and Purchasing, Campbell-Taggart, 1993 - 1995. Implemented Total Quality culture and organizational change in this $1.5B baking industry subsidiary of Anheuser-Busch. Recruited as VP, Quality, Metal Container Company ($1B subsidiary of Anheuser-Busch) 1987 - 1993.
Served in increasingly responsible positions culminating in Group Manager, Procurement with Anheuser-Busch. Began career in metallurgy with Aluminum Company of America and Coors Container Company.
