Global Automotive Manufacturer.
Product Designer 2004-2009
Responsible for product and system designs of sheet metal and body structures utilizing Catia's Architectural and Product layout procedures.
Eliminated durability fatigue issues by utilizing established design rules. Achieved improved product and component durability and quality on front structures of 2009 F150. Developed cross-functional expertise in automotive front structures and cross car beams by asking for additional responsibilities while performing all current work assignments. Mentored fellow designers in Catia and TeamCenter activities and Parametric Model Linking. Reduced product cycle timing by utilizing Vismockup and Catia clearance calculators, the use of which resulted in a much quicker development process. Conducted CatiaV5 feasibility studies, section development, competitive build information and problem solving to provide clay modelers with feasible design solutions. Redesigned a seat bracket for the Escape SUV that allowed the vehicle to meet federal crash requirements. Recognized with a Design Award for excellence.
Product Designer 2000--2004
Responsible for product and system designs of sheet metal body structures and underbody components utilizing I-DEAS Metaphase software.
Participated in the International development of body side sheet metal part design for the Tribute model with Mazda Motor Company. Consulted with the airbag supplier to improve the part design based on packaging requirements and delivered the project under aggressive timing objectives. Consulted with manufacturing engineers on spot pattern weld files for heavy trucks to assure robot weld integrity is met resulting in meeting manufacturing and quality requirements. Created quick package studies using CAD geometry to prove engineering solutions are feasible from a packaging perspective resulting in reduced design costs. Translated Mazda digital data into Ford digital data in order to facilitate cross development efforts. Led a design team in the design and development of an all body side weld program for North American Truck that was delivered on time and within budget targets.
Technical Illustrator 1990--2000
Responsible for delivering 3-D fully annotated assembly illustrations to internal customers for program build prove outs.
